Stay Away From This

I wish I never bought this snowblower. It's been nothing but problems literally every year. I've had it for 4 years. I'm ready to buy a new brand because I can't deal with getting it serviced after every winter anymore. 1st Year - After using it for the first time the electric chute malfunctioned and would not turn left or right. It was basically loose and I had to turn it by hand all winter before I could get it fixed. 2nd Year - All winter the up and down chute would periodically not work. About every 3 uses it would kick in and I could get it set to a medium height where it would be stuck at again soon after. 3rd Year - The left right chute would again not work. Had it service again after winter. 4th Year - Engine spewed oil all winter. This is something I would have liked to have fixed ASAP but there are only 2 Briggs & Stratton authorized dealers in Saskatoon. Both of which would have had it until spring or later... Left/right chute again wouldn't work. And now that I got it back from service the handle warmers don't work anymore. That is something I can live without so I won't go through the stress of fighting with the service dealer again. The chute motor has literally been replaced every year since I bought it. And it is not easy to get this thing serviced. The shop I had to get it done at held it for 3-4 months. So if you can't wait until spring to get it fixed, you're hooped. The only saving grace was the 4 year warranty. But now that that's up, it's not worth spending hundreds in repairs on this every year. Another thing with this is you CAN'T pull start it. It just won't go. You HAVE to use the electric start every time. Even after it's been running and warmed up. For the money you pay I would have expected better. I will never buy a Briggs & Stratton product again. I hope this review helps someone make the right choice to go with a better quality brand. Any positive reviews on this machine are people who haven't used it long enough yet to see its true durability. Good luck.

Not impressed with electric chute

Purchased in Dec. 2011. Have had problems with the motor which turns the chute during the past two winters . Initially it failed to turn only in one direction, and using a dryer, it would eventually return to working in both directions. It now will only works in one direction. It seems I will have to purchase a new chute motor. While I'm pleased with the Briggs & Stratton engine, I would not recommend purchasing with electric chute.

Works great

I wanted a Briggs machine because my family have used them for many years. Even Husqvarna and John deer use Briggs now. This winter (2013) it proved hard to track one down. it starts right away and the pull start is quicker then plugging it in. it throws the snow well. The electric steel shoot and hand warmers are a real plus and it has lights and cutters. however the composite skid shoes are too wide and cant push through frozen snow and I felt I needed to change the oil before the first 5 hours that's recommended as it really went metallic. CT charges a lot for this machine as this same machine branded as a Canadiana with the 305CC engine can be had for hundreds cheaper!!. but I got it on sale and wanted the 12 month payment plan instead of 6 months at most other retailers

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not to Impressed so far!

Snowblower looks good, appears to be built pretty well, liked the idea of the electric chute controls and really like the idea of the heated hand grips after freezing my hands on the controls of other snowblowers the last 30 years. Seen the machine had oil and suspect some gas in it, when it was sitting in the display area. Asked the sales person if we could run it, (outside of course) as I wanted to see how the controls work as they don't work unless it's running. Was told absolutely not, we don't do that here! So I bought it anyways, hauled it home, and after a two hour drive, drug it out of my truck. Topped up the fuel tank, then proceeded to pull my arm off. I now know why they didn't want to start it at the store, as it still hasn't started! Has spark but doesn't seem to get any fuel past the carb. NOT IMPRESSED!
