I bought his on sale so I think it was good value. My only concern is that it doesn't appear to be balanced between the amount of cloth and the amount of resin included in the kit. In order to get uniform saturation of the cloth, I used most of the can of resin while using only about 10% of the cloth. The result, however is very good. I used it to repair a plastic fender on my Yamaha Umax utility cart which had broken into 4 pieces and I now have a very solid fender.

The cloth is terrible

As others have noted, the cloth that comes with this is terrible, it seems to stick to everything except the car. Buy the pieces seperatly with the other type of cloth. You'll thank yourself l.

Q: Is this kit good to use on a old fiberglass canoe? The canoe has been repaired before with fiberglass I think. I'll be stripping most of it off before repairing it.

A: Hi, thanks for your inquiry. Assuming it’s an acrylic tub, the fiberglass resin can be used to repair a small crack. However, you will need to add cloth or matt for strength (with matt, it will be a little rough). Generally, a backside repair is done using the Fiberglass Resin Kit, then a cosmetic repair (water side) is done with a Marine Premium Filler or a Bondo Short Strand Reinforced Filler. All cosmetic repairs should be painted.

Q: Will this product be sufficient to stop hydraulic leaks? Will this work to stop leak on a cracked plastic cover which contains hydraulic fluid under pressure?

A: We would have to say no for the following reasons: Unsure if all all hydraulic fluids have been tested. We don't know how much pressure the line carries. Unknown plastic...most are difficult to bond to. Don't know the size of hole.

Q: resin that dries clear? The resin repair kit does not dry clear but becomes more yellow esply if the application is thick. How thick does it have to b

A: Even the thinnest layer will give a yellow-ish hue depending on the colour it is being applied over (more yellow if applied over white...less as the substrate gets darker). I cannot say how thick the resin has to be for the application. It will depend on the stresses it will be exposed to, how many layers of fibreglass cloth are being used (if any), etc.. Please know that these resins aren't meant to be cosmetic in nature. Other products should be used over them to finish a repair: Body filler, primer, paint, gel coat etc...
