Q: What is the R value of this product?

      1 Answer
      • A: The R Value is not measured for this product as it is considered an air sealant.

Q: I used this product to fill a gap in and around my basement door. Now my basement door is stuck shut! What can I use to dissolve this now firmed up product? Thank you

      1 Answer
      • A: Foam Sealant products will chemically bond to just about all surfaces in a matter of minutes. Once cured, it cannot be removed with solvents and the only option is mechanical removal. On hard, smooth, or polished surfaces this may be accomplished very carefully with a single-edged razor blade. If this does not work, or if the foam is on a soft or porous surface, the only option is to attempt to remove it using a non-abrasive cleanser. The more effort spent scrubbing, the more likely it is to see positive results. If the non-abrasive cleanser does not work, consider replacement or refinishing. A more aggressive approach such as steel wool or sandpaper will damage the underlying surface. Only UV light will break the foam down and this takes months. Heat has no affect on the foam. It may soften, but it will not melt and the resulting fumes may be harmful.

Q: Can I use an extension tube of the same size to put Armor Coat Insulating Foam into a hard to access space? I want to fill the gap under a shower enclosure, from the side and thought if I use a plastic tube the same diameter as the tube provided but 3 feet long, then I could get the foam into all the gaps under the enclosure.

      1 Answer
      • A: We would not recommend it. When you talk about extending something 3 ft….that’s probably too long. We don’t think there’s enough pressure in the can to get it to travel that entire length of a 3’ hose you’ve attached to the straw. You may want to consider researching a product called (Froth-Pak) that could be applied by a spray foam contractor in an application like that

Q: Is this high expansion? what is the largest gaps that this will fill

      1 Answer
      • A: No, this product would be minimal expansion and can fill gaps/ cracks several inches or more in width.

Q: Can this be used on Asphalt shingles? Just wanted to apply this around the skylight frame on the roof to seal any gaps. If this product is not right for this job, what about Daptex Foam. I saw it works on many more surfaces than this. Thanks!

      1 Answer
      • A: We would recommend Canadian Tire product number 64-2619. Please make sure it’s not being used right up against any type of heat source though. Also, you wouldn’t want the foam exposed in any way. If it was going to be exposed to UV Sunlight, you would want to find another caulk of some kind probably.
