Seems to be good quality rubber. Used for a dual sump pump setup and the connections are leak free.

Would it be so hard to make it flathead tighten-able ?

This would be so much easier if it used a screwdriver head to tighten rather than the flat bolt I had to repeatedly grab onto with pliers at jus the right angle to get a quarter turn if I was lucky.
