Q: Can I pick up pieces of paper with it?

A: Yes you can pick up paper with it, if the paper has bends or creases in it , and you can get the hook under it. If the paper is laying flat on the floor, use the tool to push the paper against your foot, or a solid object until it bends and you can get the hook under and grab it.
