I always dislike reviews on products people do not use, however, I am getting low so picked up a new roll so I don't run out. Have used this brand in the past and havent had any issues, so I do not expect any with this stuff.

Q: Will this work for 12 gauge automotive wire

A: Yes it would work for 12 gauge wire, just make sure your soldering iron is powerful enough to transfer the heat since automotive wiring tend to be thicker. Flux is not needed as it comes with the solder.

A: The melting temperature is given as 430°F right on the package in the illustration. I can attest that this likely true, since I purchased a roll of this solder and a Mastercraft 25 watt soldering iron yesterday, 21 December 2017. The soldering iron has a rated hot temperature of 401°F, and even after a 10 minute warm up, it was unable to melt the solder. The solder was not in a blister pack, and the melting temperature is not marked on the 8 oz. roll. Not a happy customer.

A: This product has already flux inside the wire. It's a cored solder wire with activated rosin flux. You don't need to buy any additional flux.

A: This particular solder is in fact lead free. Nominal Composition is 95.9%Tin (Sn)-4.0%Copper (Cu)-0.1% Silver (Ag), plus rosin flux.

A: The Bernzomatic SRC050, SRC300 and SRC800 is a Premium lead free silver bearing rosin core solder that is rated by how many ounces are in a specific roll. The SRC050 has .5 oz. (1/2 oz.) of solder while the SRC300 has 3 oz. of solder and the SRC800 has 8 oz. of solder.
