How do I use a rowing machine?

Rowing machines are an excellent cardiovascular exercise for all fitness levels, and are a great addition to any home gym setup. Rowing machines not only build stamina, increase endurance, and get your heart pumping, but they’re also fairly easy to use. For beginners, ensure you practice proper form when seated on your machine. The starting position on a rower is called the “catch” – where your shins are positioned perpendicular to the ground, your seat comes up to your heels, and your arms are comfortably reaching forward. When stroking, the power should predominantly come from your legs and core, not your arms. In terms of recommended frequency of usage, a minimum of 30 minutes per day between 3 and 6 times per week will help you build strength and lose weight safely and effectively.

What muscles does a rowing machine work?

Rowing machines activate muscles throughout the body, ranging from lower body muscles like quads and glutes, to upper body muscles like lats and deltoids. Further, rowing machines simultaneously provide an excellent core workout by activating the abdominal muscles.
