Bummer

I was looking for a decent lengthy axe for camping. I was camping in the bush during winter with this axe and for the most part it did its job but I must have picked the one bad one in the bunch. The axe head was wiggling within the first few swings. I was lucky it didn't come off the end as it was my only chopping axe for my source of heat. I didn't notice the gap between the axe head and the handle when I picked it up. Easy fix if you know what you're doing. However if this wasn't an issue I would have given this axe a 5 star rating for its length, weight, and over all cost.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Broke

Used this axe last year to take down a small dead tree - no problems. Sharpen the blade and stored it in the garage. Took it out yesterday to cut down a crab apple tree. Half-way through my work, wooden handle snapped in half. Figured the axe blade was still good and still had enough of a handle to use it like a small axe, so I continued using the broken axe... axe blade got stuck in a thick branch, wooden wedge pulled out without the axe blade. Buy something else.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good Solid Axe

It's a pretty solid axe. I mounted it on my Jeep and it actually weathers pretty good kept outside. I just put an extra coat of lacquer on the bllade.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Will do its job

Works great, but I did notice that the blade needed to be sharpened after 2 camping trips, but some time on the bench grinder and it was good to go.

Yes, I recommend this product.

The barber of the forrest

After my unfortunate expirience with the frail Fiskar's axe, I went out and found this bad dog. Snipping through low-lying branches, and felling sapplings with a stroke are qualities of this behemouth. Highly recomended.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: is the axe also used to cut down trees

1 Answer
  • A: Basically any size and weight axe can perform the basic function of chopping and cutting around the yard. The main difference for axes is how it will perform based its weight. The heavier the axe the easier and more power you get when trying to cut or split a tree.
