      very slow

Not too bad for doing circuit boards, but don't try to put in a remote starter with it. It takes a long time to heat up anything thicker than 20 ga. wire. But if doing fixes on small boards or having to heat a terminal onto wire, works alright.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I'd strongly suggest you save your money on this unless you're simply soldering a few very small gauge wires/leads. Doesn't get hot enough to solder an 18 gauge splice, so you can be the judge of what you're doing.

No, I do not recommend this product.

      Not a good iron

I bought this iron based on the star rating as well as hearing that Weller was a well-known maker of decent soldering irons. This iron was purchased as a replacement for my Mastercraft 20watt iron also purchased at Canadian Tire. I was very dissatisfied with this iron. I will be returning it. I was able to achieve about 5 decent solders before there heat-loss issues. A soldering iron, in my opinion, cannot operate effectively if it's powered by 3 AA batteries. The batteries need to top notch in this model and after a few solders, they need replacement as they fail to heat the iron sufficiently. I recommend using an iron that has a standard wall jack. I found the solder tip to be of 'beginner' quality. It was not effective in my application. The tip is also difficult to clean and wearing off the finish is a concern when cleaning. The button activation on this iron is a good idea, however I would recommend a trigger soldering iron of better quality. There may be micro applications for this iron, however my application of soldering some wires to some lugs was a complete fail as this iron quit on me after a few solders. I ended up pulling out my Mastercraft 25 watt iron, which is also a poor product to finish my work. I am not seeing the key features that make a good soldering iron on most of the irons sold by Canadian Tire.

No, I do not recommend this product.
