Resolved Issue with Water Powered BackUp Sump Pump

Installed on copper pipe supply line to Liberty Sump Jet (water powered backup sump pump, city utility). Due to quick close valve in the Sump Jet, and the non-return valve on the supply line, water hammer was significant (even though only used during infrequent power failures). WaterRester eliminated the water hammer, very quiet now. Took video (for the audio mostly) of before and after it was installed so will have a record in the future if the WaterRester performance were to deteriorate.

Noise reduction

I have a water timer for my sprinkler system . When it shuts off the pipes inside the house would bang very loud. I installed the water rester , it cured the problem no more banging.

Water hammering stopped
a year ago
nstalled these on both lines before my kitchen sink. One was leaking. I removed it and coated It with pink teflon tape and pipe dope. Leaking stopped and no more water hammer. I like the fact that to replace them you can unscrew and replace. No need for soldering.

Q: How do you install these? There are two different models of this for sale. What's the difference? Is one for wash-dryers (screw-on-attachment to the pipes) and the other for soldering in-line?

A: The 63-3848 ( WPC#2244100LF) is water arrestor with ½” male threads. This is installed onto a plumbing system using a ½ female adapter which has been soldered onto copper pipe , then the water arrestor is threaded into the female adapter. The heat used to solder a water hammer arrestor directly onto copper pipe or fitting can damage rubber seals inside the water hammer which act like the seals in a car shock absorber. The hose thread version threads onto the washing machine valve, then the washing machine hose is threaded onto the outlet side of the water hammer arrestor.
