    Great beginner gun

As you'll see in most paintball rental places, Tippmann 98 is the most common gun used. Easy to clean, easy to maintain. I would maybe suggest buying a longer barrel, maybe a 12-14" though. But great starter gun

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great gun, but outdated

This gun is great. It shoots well and is durable. This is an older model now though. Look for the Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum with ACT tech. That one features a weaver rail on top and the ACT anti chop technology that prevents chopping balls when it's halfway in the feed. ie. almost completely eliminates ball chopping. Verdict. Great gun, just go get the newer one.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: is the gun worth the money? ive been paintballing for 2 years and i want a gun of my own. i want a gun that fires off a few shots a second. is it worth the money to buy this gun

    • A: It is more than worth the money, I started off with a 98 custom pro 6 years ago and only last year upgraded to a X7 Phenom. I still use my 98, it is so reliable that I keep it as my back up for when my Phenom breaks down (still has some kinks to work out). Plus, you can turn the 98 into anything that you want to, there are so many Tippmann upgrades for that marker, plus aftermarket upgrades. This marker is so versitile and reliable that you can literally take it underwater and back out and still fire it!! Great Great Marker!!!!

Q: can i buy upgrades for this gun online and will they fit the gun when i buy this gun i want to buy upgrades for it to make it even better will the things i buy fit the gun.

    • A: Many upgrades are available for the 98, as previous people have answered, most upgradeable gun. However, it should be noted, only upgrades designed to fit the 98 will work, you need to make sure that you are looking up the upgrades for the 98. Most sites have it nicely subcatagorized to help you with your selections. I will give one quick example, barrels, you will 100% need to make sure that you are selecting a barrel designed for the 98 as the threads (Tippmann refers to as "quick threads) only fit on the 98 or other marks based off the 98. The threads from a Tippmann A5/X7 will not work with the 98. So some care in choosing your upgrades will be required.

Q: Does anyone know how many bps this thing shoots?

    5 Answers
    • A: Depends on how you set it up, if you want to keep it semi-auto, it will fire as fast as you can pull the trigger (limited to gravity fed hopper). If you put the RT (response trigger) into it, it will fire from 15-33 bps.15bps installed with an automatic feeder, but will do up to 33bps with a fully upgraded cyclone feed hopper. That is serious fire power, empty hopper in under 7 seconds. The last option for the 98 is the E-trigger (electronic trigger) which my understanding of it is that it will do 15bps stock, straight install again with some sort of automatic feeder, but install a fully upgraded cyclone hopper system and put in an aftermarket e-trigger board and I believe that will run up to 40bps. So, basically it will fire as fast as you want it to, if you can afford to spend the money.

Q: is this the model with the A.C.T or anti chopping technology, or does the A.C.T only come in the tippmann 98 costum pro?

    • A: It comes with A.C.T. if it says it does, if it doesn't say 98 Custom A.C.T. than it most likely is not.

Q: what degree per distance in degrees used in angle is each distance use the name of the unit and its sytem like inperal and metric example 1 degree angle per foot distance

    • A: forget it. Paintball guns are way to inconsistent for that. Also the velocity can be adjusted so there's no simple measurement for that. Your barrel length and type also plays in effect (flatline/apex will shoot it further) Bottomline, it's all trial and error.

Q: how extactly do i clean the barrel?

    2 Answers
    • A: I just run the barrel through hot water then run the rubber barrel cleaner through it a few times, any grime or shrapnel still left on can easily be taken off with a little bit of elbow grease and a cloth.
