    Good Price for picture and built-in sound, but gets glitchy after 3 months of use!

    The main reason I bought this Sharp 4K HDLEDTV was to replace my 10 year old 55" HD Samsung Plasma that had a hard time dealing with reflections and daylight coming into the room where the TV was mounted. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS WAS THE ONE THING THE SHARP COULD NOT REMEDY: In proprietary 'VIVID' mode, I still have a hard time with reflections and ambient daylight; almost no improvement over my old plasma. I even tried adjusting the individual picture settings, to no avail. I don't use Cable or Satellite TV services anymore, so I didn't need or expect much from this cheap TV. I just figured I would get an improvement over my old plasma, and could watch my 4K GoPro videos on it. I had always been impressed with the picture and sound quality of an LCD Hisense TV I bought on a whim at CTire years ago, and knowing this Sharp was basically a "HiSense", I figured it would be an inexpensive improvement over an old plasma, right? The picture quality is very good with a WiFi connection to Netflix 4K movies, and even HD TV broadcasts captured with a budget HDTV over-the-air antenna array from TSC. In this regard, I have noticed a huge improvement in definition over my old plasma screen, at nearly 1/3 the original cost of the plasma (which still works). The built-in speakers are not too shabby, even in 'surround' mode, but I connected my external amp. and speakers without any issues. The remote is tolerable for TV use, not illuminated mind-you, but with 4 hot-buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and some useless proprietary app called "TIKILIVE." The proprietary "App Store" is 99% useless, unless you want to pay for 3rdP. services and subscriptions, and then trust apps and app developers that probably don't even exist anymore. Games apps are a joke, with the included klunky remote making you feel like you are playing the original 1970's TV ping pong game. The Web-browsing app. is really, SUPER KLUNKY! If it allowed me to connect a wireless keyboard, it would be much better. Now, 3 months in, the YouTube and Prime Video Apps say they cannot connect. Even when I try to view the YouTube webpage with the included Web-Browser App., I get all kinds of red-flag warnings that something is wrong with YouTube. Sharp is using Covid as an excuse for not improving the firmware. I'm giving them a freebie by suggesting something with the new trade agreement that came into effect this month (July) is causing problems with the Amazon Prime and YouTube apps. Strangely, however, the included Netflix app is working just fine, like it did when first connected.

    Unfortunately, wireless keyboards will not work as the television is not Bluetooth enabled.     Poor Quality

    We purchased this TV in Dec. of 2019 and we have had nothing but issues with it. For starters, other then the mainstream apps (Netflix, YouTube, Prime) we are unable to get any apps on it (Disney+, Crave, etc). Secondly, every time we turn the TV off/on we have to reconnect to wifi. We have tried changing the settings but nothing works. Finally, our remote no longer works. We have tried several different brands of new batteries and nothing works. Our TV is mounted and there are no accessible buttons to work the TV. So basically the TV is useless. And the worst part is my toddler accidentally destroyed the receipt so we are stuck with this defective TV

    No, I do not recommend this product.

Please note, Sharp Canada is always working to make more popular apps available but there are time, engineering and virus-related constraints that are slowing us down. Proprietary operating systems will usually have less access to popular apps than the mass corporations, like Roku and Android, and their timelines for rollout will sometimes be slower to reflect that. If you'd like us to help with the connectivity issues, please send us an email at canadasupport@sharp-canada.ca with your model number, serial number, firmware version, and the reading from www.fast.com - as shown from your TV web browser. Please also tell us approxmiately how many feet away from your modem/router your telvision is. If you purchased your TV with a credit card, we can take a copy of the CC receipt - blacked out except for your name, the purchase, the date, address, etc. in lieu of the actual receipt.     Très très mauvaise qualité, Télé non fiable. Problème au niveau de la carte Mère. Micrologiciel non fluide. Probabilité d'appelé le soutien technique de SHARP 2 fois par années Impossible de mettre a jour le Micrologiciel manuellement. N.B : A déconseiller. Note sur 10 : 0/10

    TV Hangs on Smart TV

    We purchased the Sharp 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, 50-in , Product #399-2482-2 from Canadian tire in April 2019 on sale. Into our 3rd month the Sharp tv did a software update and hung on power up at Smart tv. We tried different measures to get it to come up with no change. We returned it to Canadian Tire July for an exchange, we brought home the new TV set it up and 2 hrs in it asked for an auto update, we proceeded, on power up It hung again at Smart tv. We attempted to get it back to normal, but again no change. We are very frustrated, We are going to return it and ask for our money back. No refund, we exchanged it for the LG 50" lets hope this one does better. I have usually have very good experiences with my purchases, unfortunately not on this one.

    Q: 1)Have purchased this TV & would like to know if able to use headphone jack and leave speakers on also at same time as with my other TV? 2)I am connected to internet thru HDMI 3 and cannot connect to Netflix. Any suggestions?

    • A: Hello! Here are the answers to your questions. 1. We do have a Headphone option menu for user to choose headphone audio output and speaker at the same time for 4K models. #2. Our TV can use Netflix when it is connected to the Internet through the televisions Wi-Fi connection or through the TV Ethernet cable connection. The TV can’t connect itself to Internet through HDMI connections. If TV is connected to HDMI, then all the content is coming from the connected device, and the TV is just used for display as a monitor.
