A: IMO , I would NOT recommend this sharpener for an axe or hatchet . That's not saying it cannot be done . It would have to be a rather thin bladed tool .

Q: package says lay on table and hold one end. Run knives vertically which cannot be done as table in the way. you have to sway back and forth horizontally. . why do they say use knife vertically, is that a mistake.

A: If the knife is flat (or horizontal) it won’t go through the sharpener, thus it has to be used vertically. In reference to the blade. It should also say heel to tip, repeat. Not sway back and forth.

A: Ceramic knives should not be sharpened. That is the benefit of ceramic knives, you never need to sharpen. I don't recommend using this model to sharpen them.
