Quick Dam Sandless Sand Bags, 6-pk

First - the great service! I placed my order online at 8:45pm and received the email that it was ready for pickup at 8:30am - that is amazing. These bags are a great lightweight alternative to traditional sandbags and I was glad to have them when we received the heavy rain last week. They swell up quickly and form a barrier which controls the flow of water. I would recommend having these on hand "just in case". The drying out process seems slow but it is happening. Great product.

I recieved this product as a Canadian Tire tester, and within days we had our last rain storm of the season - The last time we saw so much rain our sloping driveway brought a flood to our garage. This time I was ready! I laid out the bags, and though I thought the rain was enough for the material to absorb, the bags needed a direct flow of water. The run-off from our gutters, and the steady stream coming down the driveway was eventually enough. What left me stumped, though, was what to do with them after. I assumed they would dry up and return to original size. But they don't. The gel inside gets very gooey over time, and the garbage pickup considers the weight of each back to be in excess of normal limitations. All in all, it works. And when there is potential of a flood, that's what matters!

This product is easy to use very convenient. I let it soak in a sink until the gel had absorbed the water and then used it to guide rain water to a drain. I even used it as a seal at the bottom of an uneven garage door. Only inconvenient is that it is slippery if you step on it. A reflective tape would help in the dark.

The sandless sandbags worked very well on containing excessive rain that was damaging the blocks supporting my large wood shed. On a heavy downpour, the bags also stopped water from entering under the door of the shed and flooding the inside. They came in handy in diverting water draining from the rain pipe of the back of the house , reducing or eliminating the damage to the under the support structure of the stairs to the upper wooden deck of the house. We had to pay for the stairs to be reset after the rain sagged the staircase, making a hazardous situation. The bags are not as effective in a light rain day but on a heavy downpour work quick well. They hold their expanded size for quite a while. The only concern we had if the bags were safe for pets , especially big dogs who like to chew things. The instructions on bag should be larger on the line that says the product is safe, non-hazardous and non-toxic. Also, it took a lot of water before the bags expanded, it create a doubt in my mind , if they would really work as it was stated . All in all it remains a very good product for protecting your home and property in times of flooding.
