You get pretty much exactly what you see. No surprises here.
Basic plastic packaging, very compact.
Everything is included, save for the needed screwdriver. Lego level assembly, not too many parts.
Very versatile, as it comes in pieces.
Seems kinda solid but the wood could use some slight sanding, and a better finish maybe but else it's a 5 star buy. :-)

Q: it looks as though there is a top and bottom section, can this be assembled as two shorter shelves ?

A: This product is fully discontinued. This shelf was sold as a 5 shelf unit and it was intended to be built that way.
