I purchased this Pilot Automotive 36" White LED strip for the front of my car this past May. Mainly because they offer a 1 year warranty. They looked awesome for a few months, then they died. The power wires leading to the strip are so thin that they corroded and broke. I removed the strip and returned it to Canadian Tire, where they gladly replaced them for me. The new set only lasted a few months as well, this set broke in the middle and worked occasionally. 6 months and 2 sets dead, enough of this for me, so back to Canadian Tire again with the pieces. I no longer have my receipt, but that really does not matter anyway, as they will only replace them with another set (which I am not interested in). I was hoping for a store credit as I assumed that without my original invoice I would likely not get my money back. They may look nice, but I feel that they look their best in the package in the Canadian Tire store. Do NOT waste your time. Perhaps the 1 year warranty should be changed to 1 month??

No, I do not recommend this product.

Purchased 8 of the white 36" Strips to use on my boat and inside my truck box. I shopped around locally before deciding these seemed to be the best leds for my money. You can cut them anyplace between the 4 contacts. However you will need to solder new wire leads if you want to cut the strip in MORE THEN 2 SECTIONS. Just cut to size carefully cut and remove the clear silicon to expose the contacts. solder new leads and use some heat shrink to Finnish. Keep in mind to make sure your polarity remains the same from strip to strip. (-/+) I used 25 gauge speaker wire as its hard to find small automotive grade wire. Used a very small soldering iron 25watts. I would have given 5 stars if these came with a better adhesive on the back. I had to reinstall in my truck using 3M automotive moulding tape. I purchased the tape from Canadian Tire and cut it in half lengthwise to get the most coverage.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Can I use a alkaline 23 battery to power this? I want to put the LEDs on a musical instrument. Can I use a 12V alkaline 23 battery? Do I need a battery connector?

  • A: I connected 18ft of these lights to my boats 12volt battery with no problems. In fact I used 2 little 9 volt batterys to test as I was installing :) They draw very little power!

Q: How do you set these up? I don’t typically use stuff like this but i was expecting a switch of some sort?

1 Answer
  • A: This is a two wire (positive and negative) setup. It can be used with a switch of wired into an existing circuit, its really up to the end user. It can be used as (1) 36” long LED strip, in which case the consumer only needs to power up on end of the positive and negative leads. We do provide positive and negative leads on both ends in case the consumer wants to cut the 36” LED strip into (2) LED strips.
