Product Details

The Goodyear Allegra Touring Fuel Max is a fuel-efficient tire that provides confident wet and dry traction. The fuel saving tread compound helps reduce energy loss as the tire rolls. It offers superior hydroplaning resistance, thanks to the straight circumferential grooves and the exclusive permablack compound additive supports tread life extension and tire durability.

Mud And Snow Rated

The M+S symbol differentiates an All-Season tire from a Summer only tire. While rated for light snow, they will not match a winter tire for traction or stopping distance on snow and ice.

Rated Low Resistance

Indicates the tire has had additional testing to ensure that it meets a certain benchmark in Rolling Resistance to help improve fuel economy.

Can't complain

Noise

I bought a pair of these tires two yeas ago. The tires were good until they reach approximately 35,000 km. Then the serious road noise started and became unbearable by 45,000 km. I was told this was caused by "cupping". They had to be replaced. Canadian tire offered 15% reduction on the first pair. Needless to say I will not be back. A reputable tire shop says there are a lot of cupping problems with Goodyear Tires showing up now. Alignment was check and adjusted as required every change over for winter/summer tires.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Tires

I always buy my tires from Canadian Tire, and this time I brought these, and I'm so happy that I did. Even my old car has a much smoother ride, it's like these tires were meant for my car.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Average Performance and Very Noisy Tires

I purchased these tires on sale four months ago and drove about 4,000 km on these Goodyear Fuel Max tires. These tires make a howling noise from 70km to 110km. The tire noise reduces after 110km but my steering wheel starts to shake from 110km to 130km. I did a wheel alignment and tested the balancing of the tires and that did not help. It’s funny, I often told my friends that my minivan has a very smooth and quite ride and is a pleasure to drive to the cottage. These tires completely changed that statement. The performance of these tires are good on dry pavement but poor on wet roads. I did notice a slight improvement in my fuel consumption. I used to get about 600km on a full tank of gas on the highway and now get about 640km. Overall this is an average tire with a good price tag when it’s on sale but the noise and balancing issues make these tires a very poor choice. Do yourself a favour - trust the reviews that indicated this is a noisy tire with balancing problems and look at another tire. I wish I did.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don't count on long-term use

I got a full, new set of these tires Jan 2013, and barely three years later they have worn down considerably. Vancouver obviously rains a lot, we have a lot of puddling and black ice, and these have put me in some sketchy situations with skidding and stopping times. I'm a defensive and normal driver, and I don't ride or slam on my brakes. Not many km ridden on this set, either. That said, the wear shouldn't be this low. Got a flat last night and even BCAA said these were poor quality. So...maybe fork over a little more for a better tire. If there were reviews at the time of my purchase I could have saved myself the time, so buyer beware.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Q: are these tires good for the snow?

3 Answers
  • A: Only dedicated winter tires are good for the snow. All season tires are not necessarily snow tires although the tire companies would want you to think this. They do not have the soft rubber tread needed for superior grip on snow/ice in winter. Rubber hardens in winter time with colder temps starting at 7 degrees Celsius and colder. As the rubber hardens it loses its stick on the road so to speak and becomes more slippery. Winter tires' rubber is more soft and deeper treaded for better grip and handling as well as better stopping power. Pretty soon it will be mandatory in certain snowy provinces that all vehicles will be required to have dedicated snow tires during winter months. Winter tires for the winter...summer tires for the summer.

Q: Is the tread on the Goodyear Allegra Touring Fuel Max tires directional? Should the tire tread pattern on all of the tires point the same direction?

2 Answers
  • A: no...the tire will have some sort of indicator on the sidewall of the tire like an arrow pointing out the direction of spin. Your mechanic should see this when installing them. If in doubt ask them to make sure and they will tell you whether the tire is or isn`t directional.

Q: Would these tires fit on a car that is originally P185/70R14 87 S? I bought these tires last year for my camry but the car had been dumped. I currently have a civic with tire size P185/70R14 87 S, so i was wondering If the 205/65r15 will fit?

2 Answers
  • A: The Canadian tire section on tires has a tire calculator so to speak that will automatically tell you the correct smallerlarger sized tire that will properly fit your vehicles specs. All you need to do is enter the original tire size 185 70r 14 and then as the computer to increase it to ``15``. If 205 65R 15 does not show up then it is not a proper size as per cdn tires safety specs. If in doubt a good mechanic can figure that out for you anyways.
