not quite what I needed but I was able to make due

The overall unit did not fit in my toilet, however, the piece that I needed was the top (green plastic in the above picture) which I was able to unscrew and use. It appears there's more that one variant of the toilet and that wasn't clear from searching on your website. Also, although the main leak was addressed, it seems to still have a much slower leak which I've not figured out yet.

I know it can be aggravating finding the right part at times. This flush valve is for a one piece toilet while the 7382106-100.0070AP is for the two piece version. Defective or not the problem!

The tank to bowl valve did not correct the problem. I believe the leak was caused by a bad gasket under the valve. The gasket was never mentioned by American Standard.
Out of frustration we had our plumber install a brand new American Standard toilet in place of the malfunctioning one.
Our plumber told us they have had many complaints about our old toilet model that used that particular model valve.
