Solid Generator

My generator has worked flawlessly since I purchased it. Unfortunately I have been unable to get it to work as I had intended, which is to run my pool circulation pump during winter power outages. I have verified through multiple electrical experts that my connection from the generator to the pool equipment is correct. My next step is to adjust the Hertz output down to 60 from the 62 it is currently producing. Any direction you can provide me to make that adjustment would be sincerely appreciated.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this new generator new in the box for our deer camp. We unboxed it and added the oil and clean gasoline and started it. It was gushing gas out of the carb so we had to shut it down. When we called Menards to bring it back for an exchange they said that they don't take them back and we had to bring it to a certified repair shop that was 75 miles away from our camp. Needless to say, we didn't have a generator for deer season because the repair shop was booked. When I picked it up the owner said that the carb was full of gunk and that he couldn't even charge Generac for the repair because it was a fuel issue. how could that be possible when it was brand new out of the box? I am very disappointed that we have a generator that could be a lemon and the repair shop didn't get paid!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Generac Support
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re very sorry to hear that your generator arrived in that condition and that it disrupted your deer camp plans. Opening a brand‑new unit only to have fuel pouring from the carburetor is absolutely not the experience we want for any customer. While retailers set their own return policies, it’s unfortunate that you were sent straight to a repair shop—especially one so far away—and then couldn’t use your generator when you needed it most. We also recognize how confusing it must have been to hear that the carburetor was full of “gunk” on a machine fresh out of the box, and that the repair shop wasn’t compensated. That would raise questions for anyone. We want to look into this further for you. If you’re willing, please reach out to our Customer Support team at 1‑888‑GENERAC with your generator's serial number and any repair documentation you received. With that information, we can review what happened, work with the servicing dealer, and ensure you’re supported going forward. You invested in a generator for reliability and peace of mind—please know we’re here to help restore both.

Just bought this a month ago and haven't had the need to use it yet. But I did have to assemble the handle, wheels, add oil and gas and start it. My review is solely based on that. The wheels were relatively easy to assemble, keeping in mind that the machine is heavy and you will need to lift it on blocks, or use a helper. They give you a perfectly shaped funnel to add the oil. Don't lose it. The handles are easy to install and conveniently fold down when not in use. They make it very easy to roll around on the two wheels. You also need to connect the battery wires, which they don't explain very well. Remember Red is positive, Black is negative. My only gripe is with the gas tank cover, though. It is very large, and very low profile, and it is in a sunken area of the tank. It is very difficult to get a grip on it to remove as it is also very tight. Why did they make it like this? I've never had any machine have a cap like this. It does have a convenient fuel level bubble. The gas tank is 8 gallons, not just 5 like my older model. It is rated at a continues 8KW, although the 240V 4-prong cable that connects to the breaker panel is only capable of carrying 7.2KW. You need to use the 2 120V outlets to get a total of 8KW. Keep in mind that the battery does not get recharged by running the engine. You have to use the included wall charger. Although, a single start is not going to use much power, so you don't need to worry too much about always keeping the wall charger connected. But definitely charge it fully when it is new. It has picture-based instructions on the frame. But they aren't very useful as they pictures are too small to figure out what they are saying. Remember to turn the fuel shutoff to ON and set the choke to ON when starting it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: peut on faire fonctionner la tv et l'ordinateur avec ou c'est pas conseillé ??

  • A: Bonjour, Norm.

Q: Does it start easily in -30C or colder temperatures?

3 Answers
  • A: For Generac model #7677, does not need a kit for high altitude to be used. *Maximum wattage and current are subject to, and limited by, such factors such as fuel Btu content, ambient temperature, altitude, engine condition, etc. Maximum power decreases about 3.5% for each 1,000 feet above sea level; and will also decrease about 1% for each 6 C (10 F) above 16 C (60 F) ambient temperature.

Q: Just bought the generac 3500/4500 generator will fire and start but will not stay running what am i doing wrong?

  • A: Make sure that the gas valve on it is on, if not it will start to burn the small amount of gas in the line and then stop. If the value is on, maybe the chock is not turned off. If all of this is done, maybe your gas has expired, (Supreme gas lasts about 3 months) That's all I can think of now, hope this helps.

Q: what's the (dba) of this unit

1 Answer
  • A: Unfortunately, the industry does not have an independent set of standards to refer to when trying to establish those types of ratings. When a decibel rating is provided it causes confusion to consumers when trying to comparing products from different manufactures.
