Do NOT bother buying this backpack

We bought this backpack for my grown son who was going to be living in South America for the next couple of years. We figured it would be good to hold his 1 litre water bottle, his personal identification, a book and a lunch if need be.
We bought it on a Saturday, packed it for his flight in Monday. He got past security and walked to the boarding gate where he waited for his flight. He informed us that when it was time to load the plane, he leaned over to pick up his backpack by the strap and it tore right out! He quickly tied the torn straps and made his way into the plane. Thank goodness he remembered his knots from scouting. He said that when it was time to leave the plane he was careful not to lift the bag by the broken strap so he carefully picked it up by the other strap. That one broke too! Unbelievable and very frustrating!! He quickly tied the other broken strap and headed off. Now my son has to deal with an almost useless and obviously a terribly constructed backpack. It should’ve at least lasted him a year. The worst part is that we can’t even return it because it’s going to cost just as much to send it back so we can return it. Totally disappointed in this brand and we will NEVER buy another Woods backpack of any sort again. Might I offer a suggestion to Canadian Tire - if your merchandise is not good quality, and you get the same complaints, re-evaluate if you want to carry the item (s) and don’t bother selling it. This reflects badly on not just the brand but on Canadian Tire as well.
