Constant Motor Start Failures

I purchased this product in April of 2025, installed by a plumber in May/June. I have continuous issues with the motor humming and hesitating starting up and very often it will just trip it's internal overload. The unit is never jammed and the allen key will spin it freely. There is either a design issue with the Insinkerator wall outlet adapter wiring, or the motor is failing.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Measure Twice, Cut Once

I bought this unit to replace a 15 year old Insinkerator 444. The new unit is exactly the same size as the old unit. The installation instructions are clear and easy to follow. The dimensions for all the pipe fittings are exactly the same. The electrical connection for the "hard-wired' (ie: not plug-in) is different. I found that when I trimmed the ends of my house wiring, I had cut the ends too long. Unfortunately, I only discovered the error after I tried to fit the connector into the device. The connector is somewhat fragile, so when I tried to remove the wire from the connector, I broke the connector. I phoned the customer support line. I was told that they would immediately send a replacement connector and to expect it within 5 to 7 business days. Five business days have passed and I have yet to receive a new connector. I will give it another week.

Replaced an old 1/2 HP Badger that wore out (4+ years old, came with home.) Installation was simple. I really liked the EZ Connect adapter. I kept the already installed Sink Flange and Mounting Rack. Only took a bit over an hour including leak troubleshooting. Compared to the old one it is quieter and faster. Recommend it as a solid replacement.
