When you snap these lids on they are ON!!! I used this to cap a science experiment using the 5 gallon Canadian Tire bucket. I figured other bucket lids i had breathed a bit but not these. I was fermenting grass in water to make a Nitrogen tea for lawn fertilization...the lids were sealed so tight that when I opened it, it burped hard. I don't seem to get that same seal with other brand of bucket lids.

A: No, but it snaps very well shut and is not easy to remove. i added an airlock and use it for homebrewing beer. it works very well; many months and many cycles no leaking or contamination issues
