Very thin, disappointing. Multiple coats needed to cover a light grey… buy the more expensive primer, it’s cheaper in the long run because you’ll use less.

Hi WaterPainter, we are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the Premier latex Primer. A new, bare, or very dry surface absorbs paint like a sponge. This significantly reduces the estimated coverage, which is calculated for standard, pre-treated surfaces. The thickness of the coat or the type of roller used can increase product consumption. A primer is designed to seal the surface and ensure proper adhesion. It is not meant to be 100% opaque on the first coat, especially over dark or contrasting colors like gray color. Gray is a stubborn color. It is completely normal to need a second coat to fully neutralize this shade before applying the final topcoat. Hope this will help you. Best Regards. Premier

This has extremely good coverage. Especially since I used it on some serious patches on a wall and also on new drywall. My only issue is that when you open the can, there was a ring of thickened paint that ended up in the can after having them shake it. Unfortunately I feel like if you have to strain your paint because it thickens around the lid, that takes away from its performance.

A: If it is on bare wood it can be used, might need to do a LIGHT sand afterward (with a 180 or 220 sandpaper), prior to painting.....for some wood it may raise the grain slightly, leaving a bit of a 'fuzz' on the surface that is easily sanded smooth prior to putting on the topcoat.
