The kettle worked at the beginning and heated water quickly. Unfortunately, after about two months, it began to leak. I would not recommend this product, based on my experience.

My Kettle Died! :( womp womp

Kettle did its job, boiled water everyday for ALMOST a year before it gave up the ghost. Went to click it on and the switch just…fell out. It looks like it was attached inside with clear plastic which structurally failed. Good thing it comes with a two year warranty! Buying the same kettle again and hoping this one lasts longer.

I'm very pleased with the kettle, especially at the sale price. I like that you can see how much water is in the kettle from either side and also see how much bubbling is going on. It does what it's supposed to do - boils water and shuts off when it has boiled thoroughly.

- A: Water only boils at one temperature. Actually, it varies a tiny bit depending on what altitude you're at but at sea level the boiling temperature is 100C or 212F. Water will boil at a very slightly lower temperature at higher altitudes but still the temperature at boiling is close enough to 100C to call it that at most altitudes.a year agoHelpful?

Q: There are 3 red plastic tabs inside the kettle itself. I'm not sure what purpose they serve. Being made of plastic I wondered if they could melt over time because of the boiling hot water?

- A: They can be set to measure 1,2 or 3 cups of water for quicker boiling. So your not boiling more than you need. I have owned a few of these and have never used them. Repeatedly boiled and they have never melted or caused a negative issue. You can goggle the pot and it has a pic and explanation of the Red Tabs...3 years agoHelpful?

Q: can I remove the internal water level indicator (the red plastic part) when I boil water in the kettle? I am concerned with the plastic part - it does not seem to be bpa free.

- A: I suggest you get in touch with the manufacturer.. Not some random person who just happened to buy kettle. I have no Idea why you would remove a safety devise. As for pollutants in you life, I wouldn't worry about one little red thing. I d be more worried about the micro plastics in the water, air and food.4 years agoHelpful?

- A: Paul, I am not sure what you consider quiet. The kettle sounds like water boiling. If you boiled a pot of water, same sound. No whistle. I don’t like annoying sounds and this kettle hasn’t bothered me. I like this kettle and I use it daily. Side note: my cats don’t hate it.4 years agoHelpful?
Q: Just purchased a stainless steel eclectic kettle. KE3100SKT. Just discovered a internal water level feature with three plastic tabs. No mention anywhere that it is BPA free. Not good. Can it be removed?

Q: I currently own the KE1700SD which has the red water level tabs inside. I don’t like the idea of plastic sitting in boiling water. I have tried removing these tabs unsuccessfully. I want to know if the KE3100SKT has these tabs.
