    Great!

Just put one of these together. It didn't take me long to assemble, and it seems really sturdy. Great for getting things off the floor, and keeping boxes and nic nacs tidy. Paid sale price, and will be getting another one when they go in the sale again.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great shelving

I bought one on sale to try it. Assembled very easily and quickly. Very sturdy too. The shelves came on sale again so I went to buy 2 more. The store only had 1 Mastercraft unit , but had several Stanley units. The Stanley units were 2 inches narrower, but the same price so I thought I'd try one. The Mastercraft shelving is much heavier metal, so go with it rather than the Stanley. The Stanley cross supports would bend when tapped into place if I wasn't careful. That explains why the box was quite a bit lighter than the Mastercraft box. The Stanley looks the same as the Mastercraft, but is lighter. Go with Mastercraft if you can.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great storage unit

I bought 3 of these when they were on special. I have a storage unit and this shelving unit doubled my space there as well as in my apartment storage. Each shelf holds a lot of items and weight. This would be an excellent unit for any garage as well. My storage unit is 10 feet high and with this shelving I was able to make use of the full height. I love the option of being able to separate it into two units. Great if you have limited height where you want to put it. As it seems to go on special a lot wait for it. Best buy ever for a shelving unit. Well worth it even at full price. NOTE: Only assemple this with a rubber mallot as with a hammer you might bend the frames. I bought one from CT for just over $10.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    a very useful item

Some members of my family are "collectors". These units are excellent to keep boxes on filled with comic books, magazines and other "treasures" you do not wish to display. In our house, we have many of these Mastercraft Steel Shelving units in the basement.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: in the vertical setup, how is the top unit attached to the bottom unit?

    • A: I included a pic of what it looks like when the top is attached to the bottom. You hammer, with a rubber mallot only, the "buttons" of each shelf bar to the outer frame bars. Two "buttons" slip into each space but when the top gets attached you have to hammer one button into the bottom part and then the top button gets attached to the next top bar. I am only 5'2" and I assembled it all by myself though I had to use a chair for the top shelf as I was too short. lol

Q: Is it possible to safely make this unit narrower than 34"? It would involve cutting shelves and shelf supports a few inches.

    2 Answers
    • A: No. The reason why this unit can hold so much weight per shelf is because the metal supports are VERY stong and can not be cut.

    • A: Since it's 34" wide fully assembled i would think it would then be 68" horizontal. It is flush when it's side by side.

Q: Can you stack 1 1/2 of these units to make a 9ft high shelf? If I were to purchase 3 of these units can I stack to make 2 x 9 ft shelves to stock lightweight inventory?

    1 Answer
    • A: The manufacturer does not recommend to stack 1 1/2 of these units to make a 9ft high shelf. However, if you really want to do that, they suggest to buy wall anchors and then place heaviest items in the lowest shelf to reduce an half of the weight capacity of the 1/2 of units which on top.
