    Stay away from this item

I purchased one of these pumps about 3 years ago.after two years of very light usage, the pump did not want to run anymore. It just sat there making a humming sound. It was seized. Since I did not have the receipt anymore, I could not exchange it. I decided to to replace the pump parts. As it turns out, there are no replacement parts available. There are two basic problems here. One: the pump is of poor design and or Quality. Two having no replacement parts. These two issues reflect badly on Mastercraft and Canadian tire. Don't waste your money.

    worst water pump ever purchase

We have a cottage near Hawkesbury, We got good result with mastercraft pump for almost 25 years, but the new model is realy bad. 062-3591-6 we have exactly the same problem with the review before: I installed & re-installed 2 of these 3/4 HP pumps before I finally asked for a refund. I should have seen the pattern after three, but it worked well when it was working, and provided me with that little bit extra pressure that the 1/2 HP pump could not. It looked good, too! I didn't want to give up. Insanity is repeating the same thing, expecting a different outcome. My bad. As a cottage pump, I would always disconnect the electrical when I was leaving for more than a day. EVERY TIME I left the pump for more than one week, it would seize up. The impeller would not even attempt to turn, and the engine would just hum. I was told that this could happen 'after a certain time', and that I should try to free up the shaft with a screwdriver before plugging it back in. Totally unacceptable (it didn't work anyways)! you are not abble to have a good grip with the screw driver. conclusion: After using mastercraft pump for over 25 years now we will buy a higher quality water pump from another place.

Problem with pump - No parts available in store

Purchased and installed this pump 30 months ago in a household of 2 persons. It only needed to start 4 to 5 times a day for approx. 6 minutes at a time. Lately an internal part (Venturi Tube) became loose and the pump would not shut off. I looked at it and this tube got loose and the screw end got all striped off, can't screw it back. Need a new part. This site advertise this pump has a 5 YEARS garanty but in my manual it says 2 YEARS ???? If I can't get it fixed and sort out the different guarantee period, that'll be is for Mastercratf brand for me.

    Worst Purchase Ever

I installed & re-installed FOUR of these 3/4 HP pumps before I finally asked for a refund. After second guessing everything, and purchasing a new tank, new foot valve, and all new unions & clamps, plus all of my fellow cottagers scratching their heads in disbelief, we could only draw one conclusion: THIS PUMP IS GARBAGE! I can safely say that Canadian Tire should seriously look at this particular overseas product, and be embarrassed to put their Mastercraft Maximum signature on it. The store stood behind the product, and considering that it had a five year warranty, they could have been on the line for an untold amount of replacements, depending upon how often one could leave it dormant for more than one week. Luckily for them, I was only concerned with one season: summer. FOUR pumps in two summers. Next year I'm buying the Mastercraft 1/2 HP (lesser) blue model, which served me with only two pumps in 25 years. It only has a two year warranty, but if it behaves well in that time period, it will have proven itself. I guess bigger is not always better.

    More Mastercraft garbage

I bought a 3/4 MC jet pump 4 years ago (similar to this one), and just attempted to install it on the weekend. Never even got to install it because the casting cracked when I tightened up the drain plug. Why would I want to exchange it for the same piece of junk? So I went to a competitor and bought one that didn't break before I could even turn it on. This is the last time a Mastercraft product will let me down, because I'll never buy another one again.
