Not impressed

I bought the Garrison air con last year from Canadian Tire and am really disappointed -- it does not cool the room down at all. I have kept it on all night and still nothing -- it is noisy. Yes, I think next time pay a bit more and get something that does what you want it to do.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Barely works, buy ANY other unit

I absolutely hate this thing. It manages to bring the temperature in a 10x12 bedroom down about 3-4 degrees C. Meaning, if it's 32 outside, it'll still be close to 30 in your room... while this thing is absolutely ROARING. I really wish I spent an extra $100 or $200 to get a unit that actually works. My neighbour uses a 10 year old unit in her living room that actually cools down the entire apartment. This thing is an absolute waste, spend a bit more and you'll be happy.

Worst purchase of my life

I do not write reviews normally, however in this particular moment, when it is 30+degrees in my makeshift sauna apartment and the air-conditioner I bought does not work, it is time to review. It is massive, a pain to set up. It does not cool my very small bedroom more than a few degrees. I had it on every setting possible and to get a few degrees cooler It is not worth the jet plane engine surround sound booming from its vented mouth. It fills up with water very quickly and in order to empty it you need to master the fine art of lifting 75lbs with the tips of your fingers while tipping it forward over a bucket and pray you don't throw your back out or soil yourself. Then repeat every 30 mins. So I do not recommend it to anyone, especially not a friend. Unless it was a friend that I wanted to have hate me for the entirety of their being. Then and only then would I recommend it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

7000 BTU isn't enough to cool down anything.. Plus it's loud.

  • A: warranty is for 12 months only so quickly call the 1-800 number on the owner manual for service call before your warranty runs out.

Q: I'm still not clear how to use this on a daily basis, what drain stay plugged and and where does the hoese go? or do you keep both drains plugged, wait for the alert and then drain? after which, which drain do you use? The manual needs more details, lacking info.

  • A: I learned the hard way. Keep the plugs in unless you have some way of attaching the hose to the lower drain and have it constantly flow into a tank or drain. Since it is so low and due to gravity, it is hard to attach the hose and drain it in a bucket unless it is a shallow pan, which will fill up fast. What I do is I drain it twice a day. In the morning when I get up and in the evening before bed. It will produce more water on more humid days so check it frequently. I didn't drain it before bed the other night and water spilled everywhere. So keep the plugs in and drain multiple times a day. If you will be away for longer periods I would recommend just turning it off (which is what I do). Hope that helps.

Q: so the platic water hose doesnt have to stay hooked up all the time

  • A: We leave it plugged in so that there is no dripping on the carpet, when taking out the (upper) plug, when inner tank is full and alert showing. We run it to a pail on the floor and clip the hose to the side of the pail with a large hair banana clip.

Q: my air conditioner runs for a short time then beeps several times and stops. E# shows in the window. What's wrong? It worked fine last year and is sent up in the same place.

  • A: That means that the water needs to be drained out. Connect the hose and drain the water into a bucket.

Q: Can I just plug this into an outlet and turn it on or does it need to go into a window? Do any parts go outside (like tubes, etc.)? Sorry, I don't know much about air conditioners.

  • A: there's nothing portable about this unit!!... the unit still needs to vent out a window via tubes... but the worst part is that it acts like a dehumidifier that is impossible to empty the water properly since the only access to the drain is in the rear of the unit right by the floor!! meaning not only does it need to be drained 1-2 a day OR placed next to a drain ( which in my opinion makes it even LESS portable than your average window unit!! i have to place my unit on a table and place a bucket under it to drain... just a pain!!
