Bought this unit as Canadian Tire was the only company I found with an in-stock unit the size I needed that hot day. The unit was easy to install and it has been working perfectly. I'm very satisfied with its operation, and pleased how quiet it is for sleeping.
Note: Found two creepy crawly bugs which escaped from the box when unpacking unit!!

I purchased this product due to a humid heat streak we were having. We were sweating in our house just sitting there. Our home is 989 sq ft. This A/C unit keeps the whole house at a steady set temperature. I didn't expect it to work that well. I give quality a 3 because when I received it the right side was squat where the rails go. There is not enough protection in the box for this unit. Would have brought it back but it was the only AC unit under $350 in three stores/communities within a reasonable drive. There is a little rattle in it, water flicking against the styrofoam insulator and sound like dirt flicking around. There is another rattle from the filter in the front of unit as well. Besides those few issues I feel it is a fantastic unit. I have only been using it for a couple of days so I can't comment on the longevity of it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

A: This unit comfortably cools our 989 sq ft. home from 24 or 25 degrees down to 22 and 21 degrees. I don't think it is meant to cool a room that size but it does. Maybe because its old and drafty. 6000 BTU should cool an area of 150 to 200 sq ft. per hour. I hope that helped.

Q: What if the window height is taller than the unit height The accordian style flaps on the side will resolve the width issue but what about the height. How can I fill that gap in?

A: I used styrofoam blocks, as the base of the unit does not fit properly in my window or any window that slides up(even though that is what it is designed for). The base don't have a channel like some models that would fit into the window sill. Instead it has a flat bottom that rides across the window sill. leaving the side winds up about 2 inches from the sill and ledge. Some stuffing of styrofoam and white duct tape and way to go :(

Q: Drain Holes?? Why aren't there any drain holes? We've ran this unit for a couple weeks and not a drop of water is coming out. Where is the water going? Is this going to cause an issue?
