Easy to apply RV Roof covering product

This roof covering works well on both aluminium and fibreglass roofs. I would recommend using this product on seams. It works well as a cover coat for a variety of other roof/seam sealers. In order to use the product, I scrubbed all of the seams and caulking on the roof. I let it dry for a day, and then applied one coat with a brush. Put the covering on relatively thick as it will flow and even out. I then returned on the next day and redid it. Friends who have used it in the past, suggested reapplying annually, as they have had no leakage into their RV ceilings. I was very pleased to note that the product is water based, and can be cleaned up easily.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 10 of 30 Questions

Q: Can this product be used on the painted steel roof of a shipping container? Some spots on the roof hold standing water due to warped steel. Is there a colour choice?

    • A: This material would not hold water for my trial and crinkled and separated from the substrate after a rain. Try the real White Knight - it worked very well for me in past

Q: Is this product used to repair trailer roofs that are made of rubber? I have a leaky roof on my camper and would like to know if this product will work to stop the leaking. Thanks

    • A: This product is a roof coating, although the product will fill minor holes it is not a repair/patch product. We carry a number of related products which will assist in the process of repairing leaks: ALL SEASON (064-1179-8) WET/DRY(064-1172-2) CLEAR (064-1192-4) The Clear product may be the best solution as it dries clear and will not be noticeable depending if the leak spot is in clear sight.

Q: I want to apply during the day which have temps above 15C but the night temps drop to below 10C. Will this work?

    1 Answer
    • A: No, it is too cold to apply the coating. The only product that will work in cooler temps is Black Jack Eterna-Kote Silicone+ Coating. This product will set in the cooler temps.

Q: what is the recommended thickness this should be applied? BTW, 3.4 liters is not .9 gals if you are in Canada - it`s .75 gals

    1 Answer
    • A: Thanks for your question. When applied at 50 - 75 sq. ft. per gal. per coat with two coats, you'll achieve proper coverage. Products should be applied early in the day to allow for good sun exposure and heat to assist in the curing process. Due to the limited information we have on your project, please read the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for further product information, proper prep and application instructions. You'll find the TDS and helpful how-to videos on the individual product page of www.GardnerCoatings.com. We take great pride in helping you achieve a successful project so please feel free to reach out through the Contact Us page of our website should you have additional questions. All the best with your project!

Q: Just wondering if this product can be used on a rubber roof.. On a 2003 RV motorhome.

    1 Answer
    • A: Sorry, no this is not for use in that application. Instead please use the Black Jack Eterna-Kote Silicone for that application. The Black Jack Eterna-Kote will stick to that surface and provide a 100% waterproof seal. Thanks again for the question. For best results, make sure you apply product in the morning hours on a warm clear day with plenty of sunshine so the product dries properly. Q: Can you tint this to brown thanks in store

    1 Answer
    • A: Thanks for your question. Sta-Kool can be tinted to a light color using 3-4 oz of universal colorant per gallon. Note that altering the product will disclaim the warranty. Thanks again for the question. For best results, make sure you apply product in the morning hours on a warm clear day with plenty of sunshine so the product dries properly. Q: I have a metal rv trailer roof, seams have been resealed prior, what would you recommend to clean the roof with prior to applying this product ?

    1 Answer
    • A: Thanks for your question. Pressure washing is recommended. A mild detergent or cleaning product such as Simple Green can help to remove dirt and oils. A bleach solution or TSP could be used to remove mold and/or mildew. Due to the limited information we have on your project, please read the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for further product information, proper prep and application instructions. Q: Can it be used on a flat asphalt roof?

    1 Answer
    • A: For flat roofs with ponding water, consider Black Jack Silicone Roof Coating. The Black Jack Stain Block primer underneath it will prevent the bleed through stains from tar and asphalt products. without ponding water, if you would prefer a silver coating, consider the Gardner Silver Dollar as a single coat over the roof,. This would be a less expensive, but still a good option. Best luck with your project.
