What features should I look for in a GPS system?

While each GPS device has different features to offer, there are a few key elements to look out for:

· Voice directions.

· Easy-to-use interface.

· Live traffic updates.

When selecting a GPS system, choose a screen size large enough to easily read while driving. Also, having a voice-activated guide will make your ride safer by allowing your eyes to be on the road. Congestion and traffic can heavily impact your drive. Having access to real-time road updates might ease the length of your commutes.

Does a car GPS system require a subscription and internet?

For the most part, a standard car GPS uses satellite technology to pinpoint your location and give directions. With newer devices available, some additional features may require the internet.

What’s the difference between a GPS and a built-in navigation system?

A built-in navigation system comes with a vehicle, typically at an additional cost. A GPS is a separate device requiring GPS holders or GPS mounts. Since a built-in system complements your car, it can be simpler to use and come with more features. However, a GPS is typically more affordable to fix or replace.

What are the benefits of using a car GPS system instead of my smartphone?

Using your smartphone navigation drains your battery and your data plan. It also has a much smaller screen. A GPS has more advanced features and doesn’t require removal from the mount every time you exit the car.
