Super cutting power

I own 4 chainsaws. 3 electric and one gas. This worx saw is my favorite saw to use. It's a cutting fool. The easy chain tension especially without tools is a great accessory to this saw. I put an 18" bar and chain on it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

great most of the time

I use a gas powered Echo for more challenging cuts. Occasional use of both saws. This is nice because i don't have to pull the cord to get it started. Not nearly as powerful as the bigger gas Echo but that is expected. The chain has given me problems before. This time it popped off and a link is jammed. Need to go and buy an Oregon chain. Hope this fixes the problem. The other problem is it leaks oil. I keep it in my basement on a roofing shingle to keep the oil off the floor.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Electric chainsaw

I have had mine 16" electric saw for about 4 years now. It's a cutting fool! I've never had any trouble with it. I used to help cut up my 53 foot pine tree last weekend.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Replacement drive sprocket not available

I have owned and used this chainsaw heavily for over three years. I have performed routine maintenance and replaced bars and chains as needed. The saw worked great until the chain drive sprocket wore out. I have searched for a replacement sprocket to no avail. It is time to throw the saw in the trash. .

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Where do you take it to get it fixed, chain will not stay on.

  • A: Maybe you are not tightening it up when it gets hot. Chains get longer when hot and will come off easily, if you do not adjust the tension while doing a wood cutting job.

Q: I have a Work 303.1. About 3 years old use it once a year to trim and cut down the trees on our property. I am trying to start it this season. I replaced the chain oil, plugged it in to the cord and it will not start. Do you have any ideas to fix it?

  • A: I had the same problem. I found the problem to be bad brushes. There is not a lot to go wrong. As mentioned above make sure the handbrake is pulled back otherwise the trigger never engages a switch that allows the 120 vac to get to the motor. There's a chance the switch is bad, but unlikely. If you pull the motor cover off follow the wires that go to the commutator. There will be two, one on each side of the commutator. These wires are connected to the brushes which ride on the commutator. The brushes are held to the commutator under slight tension. Make sure they free. Meaning, you should be able to pull them back slightly and they should snap back into place on the commutator. Mine were pretty squished and I had to use a razor blade to slightly trim them which allowed them to move free. I then cleaned the commutator with some electrical cleaner and small wire brush (probably not really necessary). My saw is now working but I'm trying to find replacement brushes. Which is what led me here.  Good luck.

Q: Where can I get replacement brushes? I've used this chainsaw very little (only had to sharpen the chain once), but the brushes are completely gone. Disappointing.

Q: We just purchased a new WG303.1 and have been unable to manually move the chain for future sharpening.  Anyone have a suggestion?

  • A: The manual does NOT mention the answer but the help line got me the answer. Unplug the saw. When you are ready to rotate the chain use one hand to depress safety button and pull the trigger like you were cutting wood. This will release the chain. Let go the trigger and sharpen some more. Repeat until done.

Q:  New WG303.1 chainsaw.  I ran it 4 times at about 10-15 seconds each time, but there was only a minimal sheen of moisture on the chain and none on paper on the ground, where I was aiming it. Problem with bar oil not lubricating?

  • A: If you have some oil it might be OK. If there is not enough oil on the chain it will heat up and dull quickly. Thats how you will know if there’s enough oil.  You can take the tensioner plate off and you should see oil in the oiler slot.

Q: When working off-grid; what size inverter would be needed? Would an inverter that cranks out 15 amps be adequate?

Originally posted on worx.com

  • A: Hello There! Thank you for your question. To power a 14.5 amp electric chainsaw, you'll need an inverter with a continuous power rating of at least 1740 watts, assuming a standard 120V outlet. It's recommended to choose an inverter with a higher surge capacity to handle the initial startup power draw. Thank you for choosing Worx!
