Super tippy but priced right.

Well if you want a cheap Canoe you can’t beat the price. But... very tippy and the seats are slippery if you wear nylon pants. Maybe better for older children and teens. But not really comfortable for adults.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Exceeds expectations

Great solid, durable canoe. Some comments have mentioned it's tippy, but I don't find that at all. My 110 lb dog loves it too. I bought it three years ago, use it extensively and I expect to use it for many more years.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is it easy for on adult to carry this canoe?

  • A: I had no problem portaging the canoe. Use the middle seat and your shoulders together and its fairly easy. The length makes it look heavier than it is.

Q: Will it float or sink if it tips over and fills with water?

2 Answers
  • A: Being a first hand expert with this, this canoe will float but upside down. There is no way to get back into it when it does flip. All you can do is goto shore and get help to recover it or a lesson I learned for next time is have a safety line attached so you can pull it to shore when you reach it. Recommend using a life jacket to make the swim faster :)

Q: Can you get an extra seat in this canoe

2 Answers
  • A: The middle seat I know is screwed and bolted in. There is space for more seats but I am not sure about installing them myself. The pictures on CT does not do the actual inside justice. The main selling point besides price was how much space it has in it.

Q: If the canoe is filled with water, is there any flotation in it to keep the gunnels above water?

  • A: In the flip I had it rolled over about 3 times before it stabilized upside down. I tried to right it but it wanted to remain bottom up so I would have to answer no. After the second roll it was it was about 10 inches below the water but it came back to the surface.

Q: WindRiver™ 15-ft 6-in Canoe weighs 74lbs. Can you tell me how much the seats that come with the canoe weigh? I've seen these canoes at Canadian Tire with the seats not installed --I was wondering how much the 3 seats weigh by themself ? Thanks

  • A: Can't say their weight but they are made of hard plastic. They can't weigh very much.

Q: Who manufactures the WindRiver Canoe? I am trying to do some research on this canoe and its manufacturer, but am unable to find much information. I notice in the feedback on this canoe, that it references the Pelican brand canoe. Is this the same canoe with a different stamp on it?

2 Answers
  • A: You're exactly right. It was Pelican until last year and now it's WindStar.

  • A: You need to mount boards to the inside and outside of one of the ends...and a minn kota clamps on very easily...the pain is the batteries...heavy buggers.
