Colour wears quickly

Purchased this exact mat for our house when we moved in and it was originally stunning on our front step but unfortunately the paint wore quickly and now the mat looks terrible. Our front step is for the most part sheltered from rain and sun so I thought it would last but unfortunately it didn't and so now I am debating trying to repaint it or buy an all new mat. Very disappointed.
