Excellent product!

Previous reviews mentioned a problem with the arms not staying in position. I simply drilled a small hole in the rung where the arms are inserted and put a small, self tapping screw to anchor the arm. One for each arm and just on the lower rung. They're definitely not moving. Very happy with this product!

Does Not Fit MasterCraft Ladder

Unfortunately, this product does not fit a MasterCraft ladder. The bends in the support bracket are the wrong spacing, wrong angle to fit in a safe manner.

Excellent product . Eliminates your ladder from denting your eavestrough. The roof stabilizer helps distribute your weight on a shingled roof….1 improvement is to take a long piece of 2x4 “MASTERS All round steel strapping to hang pipes”, with 4- screws loosely to each stabilizer arm with an old piece of carpeting stapled to the underside which then rests on the shingles. Think of how a snowshoe distributes a person’s body weight. This really saves indentation marks on your newly shingled rough.

Q: Are these designed to be permanently installed or do you put them on and off as needed?

  • A: They just slid into your ladders rung holes. So they maybe troublesome at first ( mine kept slidding out when on the ground ) but work very well and are easy to remove for ladder storage.

Q: Will this fit the multi task extension ladder sold at Canadiantire

  • A: I just tested a set with one of the multi-task ladders and they didn't fit properly. One of them popped out and almost struck me while hoisting the ladder. The portions that are meant to slide into the hollow rungs would not engage far enough because they're straight, flaring away from one another. At least one of the ends would have to be adjusted to make them closer to parallel so they wouldn't get stuck too far out.

  • A: These will work on almost any ladder providing 2 things: 1) that the diameter of the arms is not bigger than the 'diameter' of the opening in the end of the rung of the ladder 2) the distance between the rungs of the ladder compared to the span between the end of the arms are not too different that either compressing or stretching the ends of the arms to fit into the rungs would cause a permanent deformation of the arms

Q: does it fit to any size of ladder? I brought one pair, but I can't push them fully inside my 22 ft extended ladder; it only reached half way of the arms. I am afraid that it cannot hold the weight.

Q: How do these stay in the ladder without coming out?

  • A: You have to have a ladder that has round and hollow rungs on it. You insert the ends in each of the top two rungs of your ladder and the round part sits on your roof. They "spring" a little so that is what keeps them in the rungs. It works well to keep the ladder off your eavestrough.

Q: Will these work on an extension ladder that I need to go up 25 feet.  Will the arms do damage to the bricks, or the bricks damage the arms as I extend the ladder?

  • A: Yes, as long as the kit fits the ladder. They will not damage bricks, there is a PVC tube as the protection.
