Great Plow for light Trucks and SUV's

Bought this plow last year (on sale) and very impressed with the quality. Assembly is required, but directions were very clear and easy. Last winters snow lot was extreme amounts and this blade handled it great (actually impressed me with amount of snow we had). Only downfall of this blade is that you cannot back blade with it. But knowing that before I purchased it made it no big deal. I did however mounted a receiver hitch on the front of my truck so that I didn't have to use blade going backwards. Canadian Tire had mount and all together was still cheaper than a full blade system (and no weight issues for light truck / SUV).

Yes, I recommend this product.

a really big and warm snow shovel

I purchased the 180 and push frame (extra cost) on the last sale flyer. It does require some installation, about an hour. the installation instructions are great. I have used the unit several times and it is a quick, easy and warm way to get my 150 foot driveway plowed. It is so easy, I plow when there is only a little snow. I have a rear wheel drive pick up so I purchased tire chains and so far it works well. I am 69 years old and was tired of wrestling with my $1800 snow blower. I am keeping the snow blower and hopefully will not have to use it. We are in for a foot of snow over the next 24 hours so I will see how it handles that much snow. You can strap the blade down so it does not float so much but that is another option

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very poor design except for light snow

I live on a dirt road and have a gravel driveway. The snow in Manitoba can get quite packed down from the wind. After my first season with this plow, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone but those plowing on paved roads in light snow conditions. It is fundamentally flawed in that it is designed to "float" over snow that it cannot push, even with the blade turned. This results in your blade packing down the snow even further leaving you with increasing layers as the winter goes on. Regardless of your speed, the blade bounces horribly on gravel, dirt or built up snow. Overall, don't buy this plow unless you're working on pavement and only have to push light loads. The videos show the truck pushing light fluffy snow. Now I know why....

No, I do not recommend this product.

Love mine!

Bought the Snowsport 180 before Xmas last year and with all that snow I used it 10 times! Note you need to have somewhere to push the snow to so it's not for everyone. On a couple occasions I was heading to work (suit and topcoat on) and decided the snow needed clearing - literally 10 mins later the bulk of driveway was clear and I headed off to work. In the spring I used roof rake and scoop to drop heavy wet snow on driveway and pushed it all away with the Snowsport 180. It doesn't scrape or dig but does a terrific job. I tell everyone I got a 7ft shovel for Xmas - one of my best gifts to myself ever!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: How much does the assembled blade weigh and weight of receiver hitch?

3 Answers
  • A: The blade is aluminum and weighs about 50 pounds. The receiver hitch is about the same. You mount them one at a time and the weight is managable. I am 69 years old.

  • A: no I push it with my 2 wheel drive F250. Chains are a good option when the snow starts to pile up.

  • A: this blade cannot be angled. The larger model can be angled but you would probably have to mount it on the front.
