Hi Joseph, the Salton SmartSealer model BS1442 requires a bit of practice and patience to get the best results from this economical bag sealer. We recommend using fresh alkaline batteries and practicing with plastic bags to become familiar with the proper squeeze-and-drag technique. CustomerCare

Bag sealing thing.

My wife bought this. We used to use clamps to keep partial bags closed. She's absolutely delighted and loves it so much she bought at least one for a friend's birthday present. I'm sure next Christmas they will be given to family as stocking stuffers. I haven't tried it yet. Haven't had the occasion. I'll take her word that it's a life changing device no home should be without. It seems fit for purpose.

A: It works great on plastic bags . A metal strip melts the plastic.. I’m not sure otherwise.
