Awesome Product

I used the Restore 10X on a large outdoor wooded dining table top that I had custom made. I was looking for a durable coating that I could use to protect the this table top. This product is waterproof and UV resistant which is a big selling feature for me as I didn't want a product where I had to continually maintain years after year. The finish is very strong and durable. It turned out great. I followed the easy to use instructions and am very happy with the results this product produced. Definately a recommended product for outdoor use areas.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Horrible product

We used the 4x about 6 years ago. We only used it on a small deck to see what it was like before we did it on our big deck. Extremely glad we didn't do everything. I followed the instructions to a T. I even used all the recommended cleaning products, waited the proper dry times, and even used the special restoleum restore rollers. Within a year it was peeling off of the majority of the deck. A few places seemed to stick but even those scraped off easy with a putty knife. I would never recommend this product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I love this product

I have used this product over plywood and pressure treated wood with no pealing or problems .I am not sure what the other people are doing wrong but I have been pleased with the results .As for rolling it on follow the directions and only roll in one direction not back and forth.

Run away!

Run away! We learned about the class action suit after applying. In less than a year bubbling and peeling. Now we get to replace a huge deck. I won't buy a Rustoleum product again - ever!

Q: can this product be applied over a wooden deck that has been previously stained but is now peeliing? Can the deck be prepped with a gas power washer?

1 Answer
  • A: As per the vendor: Begin by scraping and removing any loose material on the surface. Use a pressure washer to remove loose coating (Use at a low setting 500-1200 PSI. Do not use high pressure as it may harm the wood.). Clean the areas where there is bubbling and or peeling is occurring using the Restore Cleaner and a brush. Deck & Concrete Restore will not adhere properly to surfaces with existing sealers, paints, stains, water repellants or other finishes. These coatings MUST BE REMOVED for Deck & Concrete Restore 10X to adhere properly. To check for the presence of these, conduct a splash test by sprinkling water on multiple areas of the surface. Check at least 4 areas, or more for larger areas. Be sure to check both high traffic areas such as walkways and non-traffic areas. If the water absorbs rapidly into the surface, the surface is ready to be coated. If the water beads, puddles or is not absorbed, the surface is sealed and not ready to coat. If the surface is sealed, remove the sealer/coating with a stripper. Clean again with a brush and Restore Deck & Concrete Cleaner and conduct the splash test again. Continue this process until the water is absorbed by the wood in all test areas. Let the surface dry completely before application. Failure to follow this process will result in poor adhesion and possible coating failure. .

Q: Can this be textured with a trowel? Also could it be used to repair a small section of a larger acrylic deck?

1 Answer
  • A: Restore 10X cannot be trowelled on. It must be rolled on with a Restore roller (48-1175), which will deliver a textured, pebbled look. If a smoother look is desired, the second coat of Restore 10X can be backbrushed. Restore will adhere to concrete, and wood, but it will not adhere to acrylic.
