Easy and effective way to avoid running out of gas while bbqing.

I needed my tank refilled. However, I did not have the empty tank with me to exchange for a new tank as part of the Propane Exchange Program. The empty tank was still at the cottage where we were headed next. I agreed to pay for a full new tank because I confirmed with Canadian Tire staff that I would be reimbursed for the value of the empty tank when I returned. The only difference in this transaction from a normal Propane Exchange Program purchase is that I would be making the tank exchange after I purchased a full new tank. At this point, I have paid for a new tank AND propane. When I returned after the long weekend with the empty tank and asked for a refund of the value of the tank, I was refused. The Canadian Tire employee called a supervisor and was told the point of sale system does not have any way to refund the amount of the empty tank. They would not take my empty tank back and refund my money. At this point I have one empty tank and one new tank full of propane. I left the store to cool off and think about my next action. The following day I returned to the store and purchase propane as part of the exchange program. The employee took my empty tank and gave me a full tank no questions asked.
