    Works but some poor design

I have had this unit for 3 months now and use it several times a week. It is generally smooth but the connections from the arms to the wheel are constantly slipping and clunking. The heart monitor does not work for me, very erratic readings. There is a monitor to track the total hours use since new, it keeps resetting itself. The only serious problem is the first one. It is related to the foldaway option, so next time I will buy one that does not fold up.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Apply lots or grease!

-Power cord required 6 volt 2 Amp -I threw out the bad grease that is supplied and used high grade grease instead. I have used it extensively for 2 months now and have had no problems with the joints the assembly instructions said to grease. -However.. after a couple of weeks i had this annouing squeaking under high workloads. What it turned out to be was the joint where the control module stalk attaches to the base. I slid up the plastic cover, removed the 4 bolts and put grease on the two joints then reassembled. (be carefull not to over stretch and damage the cable that connects the control module to the flywheel). -Since greasing the joint I have had no more squeaking problems. -Make sure all the screws and bolts are tightned well.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great overall product

I bought this elliptical yesterday. My husband and I put it together and it was very straight forward, all the pieces were there, instructions were easy to follow. I do recommend two people to put this together only because it would be awkward trying to bolt in some pieces without someone holding it there, but you might be able manage. The product seems extremely well-built. I read an off-site review that stated the 275 weight limit seemed dicey at best, but I disagree: This machine is extremely solid construction as far as I can tell. It is extremely smooth operation and VERY quiet. I've had ellipticals, exercise bikes, and treadmills in the past.. and this is by far the quietest piece of exercise machinery I've ever owned. People claiming to hear noise coming from the handles probably didn't grease the axle or something (the instructions tell you to do it, and grease is provided) or didn't grease it liberally. Anyway, we have a long rectangular livingroom and with the TV on low volume I can still hear it while on this elliptical all the way clear at the other end of the living area (which is a long ways away). The iFit program provided is kinda neat. It probably won't do much for people who are already fit and looking just to move indoors, but I'm entirely out of shape and I find the iFit program to be motivational. I'll definitely stick with it for the next 8 weeks and see how I do! The iFit technology on this elliptical is SD-Card driven just so you know.. it is NOT the wireless module, which is fine with me, I don't need crazy technology on my elliptical. If you want more iFit programs other than Level 1 provided, you can buy more cards from the iFit website, or you can digitally download more programs and load them onto the SD Card. Easy. The speakers sound great for what they are. The CoolAir fan is very well placed. I hope it doesn't break down like all the fans I've had on other machines because I love how this fan hits my face, it really helps a lot. The fan does not have speed levels, but the level it is set to is pretty perfect. The stride can be adjusted very, very easily on the rear drive assembly, I was surprised just how easily it adjusted. Many machines with "adjustable" strides involve repositioning and re-bolting the pedals, but this one changes by just pulling out a lever on each pedal in the back and moving the leg piece to one of three slots (13", 15" and 18"). Very easy. When I saw the picture of this machine folding, I sort of laughed at it because I thought "Well that doesn't take up less space at all!" ... but when I got it home, I realized quickly that this machine is -very- long, and being able to fold up the back end to roll it around if nothing else is really almost a necessary feature. There's a good variance in resistance levels and they seem challenging at least to someone like me who has a low fitness level. I once bought a Weslo exercise bike and I had to crank it up to 8 out of 10 just to get a workout. With this machine, I get a workout on level 1 and 2 which leaves lots of room for growth. Three things that prevents me from rating this 5 out of 5: 1) It doesn't come with a power cord, which I knew when I bought it. However, just go down to Radio Shack / The Source and purchase one there. The Source sells multi-tip adapters. This console takes Tip "M" (blue in color), and requires a 6V adapter that has a minimum of 2 amps. The only adapter I was able to find that met the 2-amp requirement (2,000 mAmp) was a 2,500 mAmp adapter that came with about 6 or 7 tips.. it cost about $35. We went with this and now we can use it with multiple other things as well thanks to all the tips and the different voltage settings on the adapter. 2) The console does not allow you to input your weight! This annoys me because the calorie count will always be entirely off if you are overweight. For example.. over 20 minutes I burned 200 calories according to the elliptical, but I knew this wasn't accurate. Surely enough, when I did the research, I found out that 200 calories is what someone of normal weight would have burned.. but I'm overweight and according to the calculations I would have burned 350. That's a very big difference! It also doesn't allow you to input age either or any other variables. 3) When the machine is in the unfolded position, it doesn't "lock" that way. This is incredibly minor, but basically when we went to push it back a bit toward the wall, my husband realized the back end starts to fold immediately when you do so, so you have to fold it up and push it. I find it odd that it doesn't "lock" into place when flat, I'd feel better if it did, but ultimately it's not a big deal, just something I thought was worth mentioning. These are all somewhat minor issues and have nothing to do with the physical performance of this equipment though. Ultimately I'm very happy with the machine. You can purchase an extended warranty within 90 days and I think I'll do that to keep this machine working over the long-run.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Squeals and poor quality elliptical

Avoid this elliptical. I paid 50% off and I even regret buying this at this price. The thing always squeals no matter where you place it and the parts are very cheaply made. The "plastic clips" easily break off when you try to pry the tabs. I am very unhappy with this product, if I can go back in time, I would avoid purchasing this elliptical.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I purchased this elliptical about 6 months ago and as soon as it was put together, it should of went back to the store!!!!! This elliptical is wobbly no matter where you put it, carpet/lino. I have tried shoving pieces of cardboard to steady it, but nothing works. It is also noisy (squeaks). And it doesn't come with a power cord, you have to order one.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    • A: It varies, you can normally get them for less than $20. They are very sneaky as they never tell you the specs of the cord so you can buy and aftermarket one. However it is a 6volt 2 amp (2000mA)

Q: Just wondering if anyone else has experienced when using the machine that the legs clunk on some rotations. I finished setting up my elliptical and on first use it started making a clunck noise. It seems that the legs aren't fitting on the wheel properly. We adjusted the center level but that didn't help that problem. .

    2 Answers
    • A: A slight clunking is of no surprise... However, as I've experienced before, the louder clunking sounds were due to an uneven floor, or it also happened when you're working out and the machine is on a thick carpet/rug...
