Q: Can you tell me the "HOLE" size required through the wall when installing the 3" Pellet Stove pipe kit?

A: You will need to cut a 10" square hole on both the inside and outside walls of your house. You do not use a large hole saw. Use a Sawzall or similar tool. Wall thimble with this kit has flanges on the inside edges that mate with a 10" square hole. Assemble your pipe so you know where it wants to pass through the wall. Check for studs in the way. Trace the outside of the pipe on the wall to make a circle. Remove the pipe. Find the center of the circle you just traced. Now drill through that center mark with a long drill bit, all the way through the outside wall. That way your centers will line up perfectly. Now measure 5" up, 5" down, 5" left and 5" right of the center hole. Draw a 10" square. Make sure its straight and level. Cut it out. This is how I did it and it seems to work well for my application.

Q: Is the wall thimble adjustable for thicker walls? My old foundation wall is about 1 ft. thick. How thick of a wall will the thimble be able to handle?

A: The JM – SuperVent <SC-1> product made by Selkirk sold by Canadian Tire has a wall thimble that will reach 8 ¾”. To reach the desired 12” wall thickness a field fabricated extension can be done as per the letter from Selkirk listed below. “The sleeve extension must be made of a galvanized sheet metal of a minimum 23 gauge thickness. This is to be secured to the wall thimble using a minimum of 1” overlap and at least When the combustible wall thickness exceeds the telescoping range of the Wall Thimble, it is permissible to field fabricate a metal extension. The sleeve extension must be of galvanized sheet metal a minimum of 26 gauge thickness. The sleeve extension must overlap a minimum of one inch over each shield and be secured with at least 3 rivets or screws.
