    Problems with the pivoting arm

    a month ago
    After about a year of living with this toilet paper, i’ve taken it out to try to address the pivoting arm that is so tight that it finally has loosened the attachments that go in to the drywall. Was i supposed to loosen the pivoting screw to allow it to swing more freely? I have tried to stick my screw driver down in the post to loosen it, but it is fitted too tightly and does not budge. I don’t recommend this product. Very surprised that Moen, whom i’ve always counted on for quality would not have engineered this properly.

    Easy to use and sturdy-mostly

    We installed this paper holder 18 months ago as part of a bathroom renovation. Nearly all of the pieces of the unit work well and are of quality construction. The exception is the screw that forms the pivot on which the paper roll "arm" moves. It is a tiny #6 screw and if you do not take care to rotate the arm perfectly up and down with no inward or outward movement (towards or away from the wall) it will snap off. The paper roll is so easy to change that we expect our 10 and 12 year olds to do so when needed. It did not stand up to this use for long. In an adult household it should be fine. I just feel that given the weight of the components and how heavy duty the rest of the unit is, the pivot screw is inadequate.
