Midea DUO Real Cool Portable Air Conditioner/AC, Dual-Hose, 12,000 BTU, Black

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I use two of these units to cool my apartment. They are efficient, super quiet, and fully automatic. You can monitor your home temperature and control each unit with Midea’s free mobile phone app! My cooling bill is much lower than with the LG I had before, which broke down about the time the warranty expired. Midea is in a class of its own and is a heat pump as well.

I Bought this A/C Unit going on 3 summers ago now and it’s been a great product considering its “Higher Price Tag” but I believe you “pay for what you get” these days, I’m very happy with this product and I also recommend it to a family friend 2 years ago and they are also very happy with it’s capabilities too! Like others here said, take the other 1-3 star reviews with a grain of salt.. I personally haven’t found anything wrong with it in the 3+ years I’ve been using it! My place is also about 700 sq-ft which is above it’s rated use, and I live above a garage so it’s always a minimum 5 degrees Celsius higher inside here than outside.. and it keeps up no problem, simply just turn it on in the mid morning afternoon on my phone from work and when I get home in the evening my place is cool and comfortable temperature!

I bought this is April 2024. Worked like a dream. Cooled the room in like 15 mins. Stopped using in October 2024. Did not move the unit, only tucked in the hose and unplugged. The unit stayed im the same spot for the winter. Summer of 2025, started noticing it wasn't cooling as fast as the first year. Where it took 15 mins to reach the set temp it started to take an hour. But it got by. Come winter 2025, did the same, unplugged the unit, tucked in the hose, and it just stayed under the window. This year, ran the unit 3 weeks ago. Unit ran non stop the whole night but did not cool at all. It was like.running a very expensive fan. There was ice buildup in the back and i started getting the P1 error due to water buildup everytime the ice melted after turning off the unit. The warranty is only 12 months. I still contacted Midea customer support to find out where can I take this unit for getting it fixed. They asked me to email.the proof of purchase and pictures of the ice buildup. I did that. Its been 2 weeks plus, have not heard back. At this point this is just a fan that cost me more than 800 in cash. My wife is pregnant and she has become insomniac since the temperatures rose and it's not as cool as night. No choice for this year. Will have to replace this junk with something with a longer warranty or much much lower price. Also, for the price, the plastic build is disappointing. The hooks/clips brake with the slightest pressure.

Cooled off my place really quickly and it was easy to install, no complaints with the unit itself. The issue is where the adapter connects to the window slider. I used the insulation pad to cover the gaps at the 4 clips and the top part of the plastic adapter to the slider. So, easy fix and I didnt have to get anything. But, for the price those could be tighter
