Disappointing DISASTER!!!

I thought I was buying a metal table. WHO KNEW - since it was black glass the same colour as the metal - that it was a GLASS top?!? We brought it home in a pickup truck but when we put it on its side to store it, it shattered. Turns out, there were the tiniest suction cups that were totally inadequate to hold it in place! VERY poor design but even POORER that there was Nzo dignage indicating GLASS!! What a disaster!!!!

Came home from work to exploded glass all over the deck :(

I bought this table approx 2 years ago, it was perfectly fine up until it exploded. I came home from work one day to glass from one side of my deck to the other. It wasn’t windy or rainy or anything that day, just a perfect weather day, so I don’t understand why this happened. Then I came to the reviews and discovered that I am not alone! This table is known for spontaneous explosion apparently. I wish I had known that this is something that just happens for no reason, I wouldn’t have bought a glass table.
No, I do not recommend this product.

How to maintain the glass surface
a year ago
I purchased this table in 2020 and have had the problem commonly mentioned with the surface of the glass going grey and mottled due to rain water. This week I called the number that comes up in numerous replies to reviews. They had little to offer other than using soapy water to clean it and covering it when not in use. I worked in a glass shop previously and know that this glass has a black coating on the underside and the top surface is either acid etched or sandblasted but doesn't have any protective coating which is why it's susceptible to going grey & mottled. I figured I have nothing to lose at this point so tried a few different products. Rain-X left streaks as did car wax. The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (use it wet) did the best job of bringing the surface back to 'next to new'. I'm not sure how often I'll have to use it as I only cleaned it yesterday but I feel better knowing there is a fairly easy fix.
TLDR - Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (wet) in an inconspicuous spot on the glass to restore the even black surface.
Yes, I recommend this product.

A: I had this table and loved it, until the glass shattered. A very slight wind moving the umbrella around caused it to shatter. It was about a year old. Canadian Tire wouldn't replace it as it was just over a year old. Even though there are so many poor reviews. Will now try to have a table top made (at extra expense to us).
