    Great Must Have Tool

This tool in a must for serious handymen. It has lots of power, I used it with a carbide burr to to cut through a broken tap in my engine block. It saved my riding lawnmower engine.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Underwhelming, but cheap...

Been meaning to get one of these for tight access jobs where my electric rotary tool won't fit. It was at clearance pricing, so I'm not disappointed, but I would have been if it had been full-priced. So many little issues that could have been avoided with better design: as others have said, it doesn't easily fit in the box once the oiler is attached. A simple change to the blow moulded case would have made things much easier. There's no way I'm removing the oiler now I've managed to get it leak free. I had to put three wraps of Teflon tape and REALLY tighten both joints to prevent air hissing out (never had any other air tool leak so much). The whip isn't quite long enough to prevent the oiler pulling on the tool when you are using it. The alternative would have been to put a hook on the oiler so that you could attach it to your benchtop. I've mcguyvered it with a spring clamp, which works well, but it shouldn't be necessary. The collet seems well made but is a single size, admittedly the most common size, but my electric tool can take several sizes of collets for the other shank sizes. This means I have a few useful accessories that I can't use in this tool. It would have been cheap to include additional collets, or at least making it the industry standard size for rotary tools, but no, they had to make it a unique size. The barrel you need to rotate to turn it on and control the speed was so stiff that i had to use vise grips to operate it the first time. Hopefully, it will loosen up over time. Lastly, it's noisier and vibrates more that i was expecting. Overall, it will get used occasionally, but won't replace my electric tool...

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Awesome grinder

make sure you have at least a 4 gallon air tank for intermittent use and 10gal or more for constant use. also make sure you use an in line air tool oil separator product number 058-7734-6 before you connect the in line oiler otherwise you will have condensation from the airline mixing with the oil making a watery mess. this product is amazing

Way better than electric for some applications

Bought this on sale because it was so cheap. Tested it yesterday. It is way lighter and easier to handle than electric ones like a Dremmel. I think speed is higher than electric ones when on max, but the momentum of the rotating part is way less, so when thin cutting blades get stuck, they stop as opposed to break which turns out to be a huge advantage. You do need a significant about of compressed air - no issue with my 4HP compressor but may be with small compressor limiting how long you can operate it before having to let the pressure build up. All in all, a really great tool if you have compressed air available.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: ....could this be used with a 1/4 electric die grinder. Assuming that all this requires for operation is a rotating die grinder driving it, it shouldn’t matter?

    1 Answer
    • A: This kit comes with an air-powered die grinder requiring 0.9 CFM @ 90 PSI to operate. The collet for the tool and accompanying grinding stones are for a 1/8” so would not work with a ¼” tool.

Q: How do these differ from a flex drive for a mastercraft rotary tool included with my kit 54-4743-0. I don’t see a cable in the parts diagram. Is air required to operate the flex drive? Or just that the die grinder rotates. Could this be used with 1/4...

    1 Answer
    • A: Unfortunately the flex-drive kit 054-04743 has been discontinued and we do not have information available on the kit. This Micro Die Grinder kit utilizes air pressure to function and requires 0.9 CFM @ 90 PSI air flow from a compressor.
