Honeywell Home CT87K The Round® Non-Programmable Thermostat, Heat Only

Didn’t work from day one.

I bought this a week ago. In that week it has stopped sending the signal to the furnace to produce heat three times. Each time in the middle of the night. I live in Alberta in Alberta it gets cold so at 1 a.m. This unit decides that the furnace has been asked to run too long and shuts off and refuses to turn on the furnace again. Upon calling Honeywell after an hour on the phone and three different people I was told that there is a capacitor in this model that runs down when it is asked to send the signal to the furnace for too long without having a break to recharge the capacitor. Are you asked why would they be selling a unit in Northern Alberta where it regularly gets down to -30 where a furnace needs to run quite often for a long time when the unit needs a downtime to charge. Do they think we live in the tropics where the furnace runs once a day in the evening and sits all day and not turning on. When it's working it seems to work fine. This is probably very similar to what was originally installed in our house in the mid-60s except that one was probably a totally mechanical bimetal strip attached to a Mercury switch and it didn't need any charged capacitor to work. Why is Honeywell or Canadian Tire selling this item in a market where it is not going to function properly. Now I have to drive for an hour to the store to return it and try to find something that is actually going to work. If you live in an area where it gets cold in the winter do not buy this thermostat.

Returning item does not fit

This is the second one that I have bought in the past 4 months. Neither one works for the cooling. It works fine for heat, but it does not respond when I set it for air conditioning.

2.5 months and not working. Will turn on blower but not the furnace.
