Q: What is the little thing on the back of the thermometer that looks like a battery terminal

A: The piece attached to which you refer to a battery terminal is a coil that senses the temperature and is connected to the big hand, hence adjusting to a corresponding temperature.

Q: How big is this dial? I am replacing one that recently broke. I need something that is at least 8 inches / 20 cm in diameter. It will go on a patio fence and needs to be legible from 15 feet / 5 meters.

A: No, this particular weather thermometers is a designed to be hung on a wall, a tree, a fence etc… with a nail, a screw or a picture hanger hook. It does not have a bracket system to allow it to swivel on an angle.

Q: Thermometer staying same temperature as we bought from Store. Is there a manual for this item because we have had it out for two days and it still reads 20 C just as we took it out of the package.

A: This unit does not have a separate instruction manual as it is a basic unit. There are mounting instructions included on the back of the window box. Contact the manufacturer's customer service department at 1-800-661-6721 and the unit will be replaced for you.
