Garbage

Unfortunately I bought one, connected it to 12V and it wouldn't even start up. I could only exchange it because the package had been opened. The new one lasted for 3 months and then would only put out 95V. It's now past the return window and I can't even get a new one. They are complete garbage. I didn't have an option to give it a rating of zero. Don't buy it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for your feedback. This inverter produces a modified sine wave. In order to measure the AC output voltage you must use an RMS voltmeter. Using a non-RMS voltmeter will yield an erroneous output of around 95V, as you experienced.

Q: Where do I connect a ground wire to the inverter? Page 8 of the manual it says, "the ground wire should be connected to an earth ground, such as a buried ground rod". My question is where do I connect the ground wire to the inverter?

3 Answers
  • A: Grounding the inverter isn't always necessary, but is always recommended. There might be a ground screw on the back of the inverter. It looks like the one on a household light switch or receptacle. If you're mounting it in a vehicle you could run a 12 gauge wire to the chassis. If you're in a structure you can drive a copper rod into the ground and wire it up. It does save a few heartbeats if lightning hits nearby.

Q: I have a 120V 1/2hp sump pump will this run it? ALSO what ah of a 12v battery will work with it to run the sump pump?

2 Answers
  • A: Need more info to answer that completely! But Yes it would run it depending on the start up amp draw is not more than what you inverter can handle. The Ah you will need from your battery will depend on how long you need the sump pump to run with out recharging ?? If your going to have solar attached to your battery then you have to make sure you’re recharge time from your solar is going to accommodate the runtime on the sump. Also, is this sump going to be running on and off or is it just an emergency situation? I understand this doesn’t really answer your questions, but if you can get the answer to these questions, then you’ll know what to do and the answer to these questions will apply to any interview you buy.

Q: What size battery to buy, for this inverter, it will be hooked up to a 1/2 hp sump pump?

2 Answers
  • A: A 1/2 hp pump requires a big surge of electricity on startup - at least twice its rated consumption. A car battery isn't going to cut it. You should checkout some of the off grid solar sites to see what they recommend. I use Surrette Batteries because they are the best for off grid applications, AND they are made here in Nova Scotia - in Springhill, home of Anne Murray.
