Product Details

A must-have for hobbyists, homeowners, and anyone passionate about off-grid living, the NOMA 80W Solar Kit features an 80-watt crystalline solar panel built to withstand outdoor elements and quickly charge compatible batteries. The durable aluminum frame features shatterproof tempered glass, so you can trust it to withstand harsh outdoor weather conditions. Using the included inverter, this solar panel kit provides portable power where you need it most. It converts 12-volt DC power to 110-120-volt AC power, so you can charge electronics with either AC or USB outlets. This is ideal for boat and RV batteries, campervans, cabins, and cottages with unreliable power. This kit includes everything you need to get started on your journey to self-sustainable, off-grid living. This solar panel supports a maximum continuous power of 420-watts and a surge capacity of 840-watts and is loaded with safety features to protect your appliances from damage in the event of a circuit overload. Set up this rooftop solar panel and keep a little extra power at the ready for whenever you might need it.

Light weight quality! Easy set up!

So far so good! Set it up at my trailer for the winter to maintain the battery. The support stand is not very solid, also when set up with the stand fully open the panel is at approximately 45°. I made a wooden support stand so I could set it at 60°, also to fasten it to the ground to help keep from being blown around by strong winds. I also drilled a hole in the aluminum frame to add a security lock so it doesn’t walk away, this should have been taken into consideration at the factory.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very easy to set up and works fine. Seems to be of good quality and the inverter works good. Just make sure the polarity is right. On mine the positive post cover and negative post covers were switched for some stange reason and i blew the 30 amp fuses.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Looking to use it to power a circulating fan and an exhaust fan in a greenhouse.  Would I need a battery also or could I just use the inverter to supply power to the fans?

2 Answers
  • A: I think you will still need a battery ( deep cycle) to be able to run the fan for a longer period. I don't believe the panel and just the inverter will be able to keep up with the demands of the electric motor.

Q: Is this solar panel Monocrystalline or Polycrystalline?? Doesn't say in any of the descriptions of the manual.

2 Answers
  • A: Its poly(I own 2), which has different silicons mixed together and you can see that in the different shades of blue on the panel, the mono's are uniform in colour and black is how you can tell.

Q: Two questions: 1) Are NOMA and Coleman compatible? 2) Given the question on wiring other panels in series, the suggestion is to purchase a more robust charge controller - one that will cover the total amperage of all panels in the system?

2 Answers
  • A: Yes, connecting in series will add the system volts, which will require a controller with rated power larger than the system total current.

Q: Can the 80W kit possibly run a 1500W infered heater?

1 Answer
  • A: No. The kit comes with a 420W inverter, which is inadequate for a 1500W load.

Q: I have a well pump that draws 50-100W (http://nemosolar.com/dcsubmersiblepumps/id49.html). If I purchased the Nautilus Ultra Group 24 AGM Deep Cycle Battery (79A) and this 80W solar kit, would that be sufficient to use for my well pump?

1 Answer
  • A: The answer completely depends on how long the well pump will need to be run in a typical day. For context, that 79 Ah battery on it's own will run the pump (assuming worst case of 100W draw) for about 5 hours continuous (before reaching 50% depth of discharge). And the 80W solar panel will need a good 8 hours of direct sunlight to restore that charge. If 5 hours runtime in a day is adequate, then this system should be sufficient (but cloudy days would be a stretch).
