Disappointing and difficult

I bought this a bit more than a month ago. First of all the packaging wasn't put together well and once you cut the strapping off good luck repackaging it for return. My biggest problem with it is that this is the most opaque and user-friendly control system I have ever encountered in an air conditioner. The user manual is trash and the display on the remote don't help. I didn't use if for a while after purchasing and can't find the receipt now. honestly wish I'd started using it earlier so I realized quickly what kind of garbage it is and could have returned it. It does seem to cool things but turns itself on and off by itself because "SMART MODE" is turned on by default and can only be turned off using the remote... Which also just displays the smart mode symbol regardless of whether it's on or off. Adjusting desired temperature is unclear, and there's no app for use with it because it's not NOMA IQ so don't be expecting to be able to adjust it from outside the same room, nor to be able to track energy usage. I am much happier with my slowly failing, 10 year old LG Thinq branded AC than I am with this monstrous garbage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Poorly managed and disorganized store.

I ordered online as told it was in stock when I called. They indicated they had 2. I made the 1/2 journey each way as I was told it was there by 10 am. I was told they had to “prepare it” for me. When I went in, it was not ready. I went out for a meal and came back again. When I got there about 2 hours later, I was told they couldn’t locate it. I had already paid for it,’so I suggested I purchase another one. I purchased another one and was told they had to cancel my first order at customer service. I waited for another 1/2 hour after my purchase of a second one before I was told, “Oh we already cancelled it”. Not one apology for my additional time, or poor organization and store management.

Q: Does this unit shut the fan off when it reaches the set temperature? Is there a mode that can switch between fan and cool automatically?

2 Answers
  • A: Yes, the AC turns off when desired temperature is reached and starts again when needed. Not sure about switching between fan and cool automatically, but it comes with a remote so it’s easy to do

Q: Unit runs for a bit then it shuts off

  • A: Yes, the unit has a definite mind of its own. Shuts off when the temp you’ve set has been achieved then clunks back on when the room temp rises 1 or 2 degrees above the set temp. It is very noisy with chattering transitions and yet, I’m super grateful for its ability to keep my bedroom cool at night!

Q: Can you tell me the length of the hose that is supplied with the unit , and can you purchase a longer hose ? I want to have the unit attached to a window in a back bedroom , but have it angled to allow air to cool the upstairs hallway .

  • A: The hose is quite long, however I'm not sure how long it actually is, as mine is close to my window, I would contact CT to see if you can buy a longer hose

Q: Does this A/C have an evaporation of the condensate out through the exhaust. This unit will not be moved, will stay in place year round in 2nd floor bedroom, and I certainly do NOT want to have to be watching for or emptying buckets of water, ever.

  • A: We have used this unit for a couple of years and have never had to drain anything, even on days where it is on for 20+ hours.  We do have it sitting on a tray just to be safe, but only because it is up on top of a chest.  It comes with a drain hose but not sure why since we have never had excess water.

Q: I am trying to set a timer on the AC unit from the remote to have it run for an hour and then shut off. When I click "timer on" on the remote, it automatically sets to 12 hours and the manual doesn't explain how to adjust the time length. Any solutions?

  • A: If you want to turn on the air conditioner and have it shut off after 1 hour, it's a little complicated but doable. First, set the clock on the remote to the current time, using the Clock button on the lower right-hand corner and the Up/Down arrows until you have the correct time, (keep in mind the remote operates in military time so, for example, 5AM is 05:00 and 5PM is 17:00), and then press the Clock button again to save the current time. The timer works using the clock. The Timer On button is so that you can pick a time for the a/c to turn on. The Timer Off button is so that you can pick a time for the a/c to turn off. They work similarly to the Clock button. If your a/c is already on and you want to just run it for an hour, just press Timer Off (the clock with the minus sign), and select the time it should shut off. For example, if it is 4PM now (16:00), adjust the Timer Off setting to 17:00, and the a/c will shut off at that time. You can use both Timer On and Timer Off to pre-set what time you would like the machine to automatically turn on and then to automatically turn off, for example if you are not home but want the a/c to run for a couple of hours during that time. Or you can just use Timer On to set a time to turn on and it will stay running if you do not pick a time with Timer Off. The instructions are not super clear but are on page 18 of the manual if that helps. :)
