The price was reasonable when it's on sale. The actual product received actually looked different than the photo shown on the web page; not sure if there's any functional difference. It seemed to be sturdy enough for its purpose.

Q: Will documents get moldy? I read online that mold is common with water tight safes and they must be aired periodically because of the humidity level that develops inside.

A: Humidity can't appear by itself. If you put damp documents into it, or close it when your air is humid, it may get musty or mouldy. If the documents, safe, and air are very dry when you close it, it will stay dry (if it's watertight then moisture can't get into it). If you open it occasionally to air it out, you're just exchanging the air in it for other air, that may be just as humid or more so. Therefore I'd recommend you keep it closed, and keep some silica packets (those "do not eat" packs) in it. They absorb moisture and will keep your documents dry.

Q: What are the internal dimensions? I'm a bit confused that it isn't shown somewhere but can someone tell me what the internal dimensions are? Forgive me if I missed it but I checked the page several times.

Q: with the UL350 standard for paper document, is it unsafe now to put our Canadian money now that it is made of plastic? ? Have there been any new test on the Canadian plastic money?

A: http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/bank-of-canada-defends-durable-plastic-bills-despite-melting According to the above link, Canadian currency can withstand temperatures up to 140c / 284 F. Our tests have consistently shown the interior temperature staying below 205 F during the 30 minute Fire test. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that our plastic molded fire chests and file boxes will protect Canadian currency during the time frame (30 minutes) that our products are rated for.

Q: Can pearls be kept in this safe? I have heard that some safes, specially plastic molded ones' are not good for pearls due to the moisture content they consume.

A: It has nothing to do with moisture. Rather pearls actually sustain damage at temperatures lower than 350F, which is the rating of ALL UL350 Classified fire chests AND SAFES. The 350F temperature is the standard because this is just below the temperature that paper will begin to char at.

A: Please see vendor's response: Yes its plastic molded and filled with Cement with a fire rating of 1 hour. It also has 3 locking points that provide a sealed waterproof chest. This Honeywell Fire Chest has a 7 year warranty (1st in class) and life time “after fire replacement” guarantee.
